interior troubles

i put in new carpet in my car and im having trouble putting in the seats no matter how much i try the holes wont match up the carpet makes it bout half an inch too high. i made cuts so that the metal would be hidden and i dont know what kind of cut i can make to make it fit without tearing apart the carpet. so if anyone can give me some tips that would be really helpful.

thanks in advance

i generally put the most difficult bolts in first, the ones that have the least clearance when the seat is sitting flat. tilt the seat with no bolts in and install those first then put weight on the seat and install the rest. it can take some playing with, installing aftermarket seats generally have the same issue so you have to play with it, just don't mess up the holes in the frame trying to force the bolts in or you will have to get a tap and dye(had too many customers try to force them in and then call for help after the bolt holes were all fucked up).

then try a heat gun on the carpet where the seat lays on, it may help you get a little more clearance.

you can also try putting a large phillips head screwdriver through the frame into the bolt holes to try and pry it down a little. you have to be careful to not damage the threads though.

another idea is take some scissors and cut down the carpet where the seat sits, like a haircut, you don't have to chop it completely out.
