interior neons where else in an fc would work for this Please help !
 

ok so i put interior neons in 87 gxl they were working great at first heres how i did them .. i spliced the power wires of the neons in to the power wire for my cd player so then that way when ever i turn on my cd player the neons turn on but now i noticed when i have the volume over 25 or 26 my sub just cuts out ... no bass .. it makes me mad what other power sources are there in a 97 gxl that i could splice these wires into .. u also need a ground for each neon but i'm sure i could find one elsewhere fairly easy ...please help or if u don't think thats it what else could it be ?

The chassis is a perfectly good ground - just put a ring terminal on the ground lines and tie them in to any handy bolt.

If your sub is cutting out from the load of the neons, you likely have WAY too small of a wire gauge going to it. I'd fix the power feed to the sub's amp first, and then see if you still have the problems.

Rewire everything.

Get a good heavy gauge wire directly from the battery to an auxillary fuse box mounted in the car. Use one fuse per "group" of accessories. One for lighting, one for radio/head unit, one for each amp. The chassis is a good ground as long as you don't use things like self tapping screws.

what are self tapping screws .,.. and do u mean the wire that goes from the amp to the sub ?

self tappers have a sortve drill bit type tip, they make their own hole and thread themselves in. They're made for sheetmetal when you don't want to drill/thread a hole yourself.

ok well i'm going to try and run togggle switches for the neons n hopefully that is the problem

Here's the thing, and don't take this the wrong way, but I think you should find someone who knows what they are doing. :)

Wiring is a very important thing and if you get it wrong, bad things can and do happen. There are minor annoyances like you are experiencing, but I have personally seen cars BURN TO THE GROUND due to the typical poor wiring job.

It sounds like you have a lot of electrical accessories so you should stop splicing and tapping into other circuits to run them.

Get a good 4 or 8 gauge cable right from the positive terminal of the battery to an auxiliary fuse box mounted in the car. Put a breaker at the battery to protect the feed to the fuse box. Now run your accessories from this fuse box being sure to evenly load circuits and not overload them.

If any of this doesn't make sense, then seek help. If you post pictures of your current wiring mess, I can probably tell you what's wrong with it. :D

the neons should say right on them what kind of power they draw go to a hardware store and tell them how much power u are going to have going through it and they should be able to help match the wire to your needs
electric supply places are and even better place to get stuff like that
