'Interesting' Problem.. (re: CD player wiring)

Ok guys.. Heres an interesting one for you...

My CD player always used to work fine.. It's not a stock one, not that that really matters for this..... now it doesn't anymore........ :(

I've tested everything I can think of, the CD player is getting constant 12+... Ground.. and everything else.. Except for swtiched Ignition..

So ok I go and check the fuse... its all good.. In fact _all_ the fuses were (no suprise there..)

Traced the wire back as far as I could, physically, to some where under the steering wheel (RHD..) and it didn't have any +ve reading there either............

So where would be the next spot to test?

Any common problems i'm not thinking about here?

Doesn't turn on at all?
Did it just suddenly stop working?

Yes, it has no switched ignition, therefore does not turn on.

My car has been off the road for 4 months. Sometime between then and now, something has stuffed up.

And i'm quite sure its not a fuse.. Unless there is one where I can't find it.

Is there a relay?
If so where is it?

If that was the switched ignition wire for the stock stereo then no, it has no power on it when the key is on.

My wire now has tape all over it and its dark and im not walking downstairs to see, but anyway regardless it doesn't matter... that wire USED to have power on it, now it doesn't...

That wire is all over the car, and can be tapped from all kinds of other locations. Give it a check to see that it has power in other places, and splice into it there.
