Intake decision

Okay, I bought the Apexi intake for my 91 N/A. Now I have to decide to either:

a) fab up a heat shield box and buy a headlight cover to add cold air, or...

b) custom make a CIA by removing the windshield washer resevoir and putting by the wheel well.

Anyone care to give me reasons why to go one way or the other? Thanks

the headlight cover thing is useless. Either do b, or combine both. Fab a box around the filter, and scoop air through a duct from the wheel well area through the hole that you would have in b.

I disagree with gatlin.... I have a headlight cover mod and fabricated a cold air box on my 91 GTU.. I got 2 tenths average at the track from the headlight cover mod..

Its biggest downfall is that it doesn't work well when the lights are up....

PS.. With a dremel tool, a bean bag, a ball pine hammer and some bondo, you can make a really nice fresh air headlight cover!! My box and the headlight cover cost me less than 20 bux and it looked really good. (you have to put some time into it and have the headlight cover painted to match!)

wtf is the bean bag for?

I don't know about your car, (not trying to be sarcastic here) but mine has a divider behind the headlight that would block air to the filter area. Did you do some cutting in this area?

It's not like it functions as ram air or anything, but just allows a bit a cooler air in by the filter. Might not see much in gains, but it looks better.

im thinking of just buying some 3" piping and fabbing up my own...does that sound resonable?

Dittos here. I want to do the Bean Bag Mod and I need some help on positioning the Bean Bag just right. I understand if the Bean Bag is positoned wrong It'll upset my tps setting and cancel out my throttle body mod.:D
