Insulating your turbo?????

Found ths shit in JC Whitney a "Insulating Wrap Kit for Turbochargers: Eliminates Turbo Lag, increases throttle response, increases power and efficiency by keeping heat created by exhaust side or turbo away from intake side." This shit tru? It costs 85 bucks

i suggest dont do it.. it tends to keep all the heat in to the turbo and worse the manifold heats up greatly.. .. turbolife decreases. so sorry to be negaitve about it.. but its just common sense..

works fine, just not on a rotary turbo, too hot.

Insulating the hot side of the turbo does increase it performance. Plus, it decreases temps under the hood, and on the compressor side of the turbo.

I would agree it being a bad idea. These turbos will have manifolds that have extensive cracking and the hot side will have extensive cracking. And that is in the stock config. The wrap would hold more heat.

If you goal is a street car that you want to see the turbo lasting a long while stick with stock heat shields.

If you are racing and don't think more than 10000 miles at a time then wrap her up!
