Installing suspension tips....
 

I will be installing RSR Race springs and Tokico Blues on my FC tomorrow and was wondering if anyone had any tips on ease of install? Thanks.

find an agreeable shop that will let you use their spring compressor. take it from me, try and do anything with springs and no compressor and you're liable to lose a foot/head. also dry fit everything beforehand and, well hell everything else i have to say is basic install shit. but yeah spring compressor!

Be prepared to have a fun time getting the rear struts off if they are the original ones that came with the car. :)

Me and a freind of mine broke 2 ratchets doing that

spring compressor rental from autozone - ~$40 - $45 refunded at the end of your few hours you have it. so you basically barrow them.

a nice impact wrench made my job real easy.

a block of wood and a 5lb dead blow (sledge) hammer.

a wire brush to clean everything off once you ditch the old struts.

i think that's about it.

when i did mine, everything was pretty easy and strait forward, the jack your car came with might be useful to help position the lower part of the suspension to bolt the strut botom back on tho.

Use some PB Blaster on all the bolts. That stuff makes life so much easier.

Please, people it will not be that hard. You will have fun with the front suspension and make sure you have someone to help you out to the process. The rear suspension is more plug and play. the front one is a pain in the arse

Yeah done. I finished in 5hrs 12mins. The fronts were a bitch and I didn't have a friend to help. But so sweet now, I can definately see that it's lowered now. I am about to go for a drive. Napa wanted $375 to do the install.... ha, do it yourselfers kick ass.

Yeah, I try and do anything I can myself. Labor charges just aren't worth it unless it's something I have no idea how to do / can't get help / really don't want the hassle.

Good job man, I really want tokico illuminas and eibachs but I don't have the funds right now. Tell us how the drive goes. And... any pics of the lowered car versus the old springs / shocks?

Wow this setup is funking sweet. It feels a lot stiffer and it is definately more predictable on the road. Looks a lot lower than before too, I will see if I can get some pics together in the next few days.

d00d thats what I like to here, I am in the process of replacing all bushings and then replace rear then front suspension... goin with RB springs and KYB AGX shocks/struts. Nothing better than doing the work yourself...

Except for when people try to do it themselves and manage to fuck stuff up :(.

I love those people, they give me work at the shop :).

dang that looks so high compared to mine with Tanabe springs. I'm glad you got it done though.

especially when you have access to rotary hydraulic lifts, a veteran Formula Ford racer/mechanic, and fifteen grand worth of snap*on tools at your immediate disposal.
