Installing Roof spoiler
Can anyone tell me how this is done?
Pretty much just double sided tape. You can add screws if you want.

If one were to use screws, would you screw directly into the hatch? |
Yup. I used screws and double sided tape on mine, then filled the holes above the screws.
post some pics
are you talking about the forsight spoiler?
duct tape and super glue
I have 3M heavy duty automotive trim tape for installing it.
Don't forget (as per the phone call last night) you need to drill the hole for the washer nozzle. I have the drills if you need that too. |

Is it really just double sided tape? That sounds chincey as hell... I always thouhgt there were studs or something... man that kinda turns me off to it... and I LOVE that thing! |
As long as the surface is clean when you apply the trim tape, there will be no issue.
Both the rear spoilers on my RX-8, and on my 335i, I installed with 3M trim tape and there was no lift or loosening even at 140 mph. |
wail RX-8s can do 140MPH?!?!?! LOL J/K. i cant find a pic of this spoiler any pics?

i love that spoiler... funk it'll look so sweet, which one of your FC's are you putting it on?
where did you pick that spoiler up?
nader 3M auto tape is A+++ its the only thing holding down my whale tail on the black gsl-se with 100 mph+ cruise's its all good. i dont think i could rip it off if i wanted that tape is pretty crazy.
It'll be okay. Just make sure the surfaces are really, really clean; as mentioned before.
yah 3m tape rocks. i put a roof spoiler on my old 240sx with a clean application of tape, that sucker wont come off, even thru car washing or outside weather its no worry, and the spoiler only tapes onto the rear windshield.
dont want to drill holes to burn bridges in case u dont like it later or someone trys to steal it, better it comes off instead of them prying the hell out of it and damaging ur hatch |
where can i get one of these ive been looking all over the place and no luck. thanks!
japan, thats the only place ive seen them, and its not cheap to ship them
From Foresight Japan they cost about $300 to $400 each, then add about another $100 or less for shipping.
really a hundred dollars or less? my coilovers are costin me 300 to get here
That's because coilovers are heavier and require a bigger box.

I don't even KNOW how many times I've said it now: SHINE AUTO PROJECT MAKES A REPLICA FOR MUCH LESS!!! |
Origin has a similar item for the FD3S and they recommend in conjunction with high grade double sided tape the use of caulking as well.
oh hey somebody told me shine makes one anybody hear about that?
          |

BumpholydeadthreadiknowOMGgetitoutofyoursystem.
I've been reading over this thread: https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...t=aero+package (in preparation for buying a possibly complete Aero package :D:icon_tup: ) and from what I can understand about this flow diagram: http://pengaru.com/~swivel/cars/rx-7...wSheet-med.jpg Wouldn't the visor/spoiler have a fairly noticable effect as far as "spoiling" goes? Still trying to make sense of what I see so please excuse my ignorance. |
I have the Shine one on my FC. I took off the rear S5 spoiler and noticed a change at high speeds. With the roof spoiler, I noticed no difference. I think it's more for looks.

We put Naders on the other day, and when the hatch opens it rubs. Yet we mounted as far down as possible on the hatch (the bottom edge of the spoiler was resting right at the rubber trim of the hatch). |
