When did it start doing this? Always been that way or was there a defining moment when it started?

Did you preload the pinion snubber when you installed it? Even with a factory diff mount, the pinion will still snap up to some degree under hard launching. People using the single rear camber adjuster rod will run into clunking as well, since the pinion is moved closer to the floorpan. Preload the pinion snubber and you should hear very little to no clunking.

How do I preload the snubber?

Just have someone under the car pull down on the driveshaft while I bolt this little bump stop in, then let it up so that the differential housing is already pressing some weight on the snubber/bump stop?

^Yeah, that's one way of doing it.

The other way is for people that have the single camber adjuster rod. They can just lengthen it to install the snubber, then shorten it to press the pinion of the diff against the snubber. I used washers to bring the snubber down more.

So there is no subframe dropping when installing the snubber, right?
