injectors frozen open??

so i did a engine replacement, same engine adn year but the injectors were different. so i switched from the red injectors to the purple injectors and sodered replacement pig tails on because the old ones were brittle and one broke. when i went to start it, it would stay running and i saw it was leaking fuel from exhuast manifold so i figured the engine was way flooded. so i replaced the spark plugs and unflooded the engine. it started right up. but the exhuast go thicker and so i pulled the connector that i was told turns off the fuel pump thats along side the steering colum and it still ran. i wouldnt rev past 3000 but it ran and would almost die till i put my foot on the pedle and it would go back to 3000 rpms. also i have a switch that has always worked to turn off the fuel pump and i turned that off and it didnt kill it either. i just had the injectors jetted and balanced. so i'm sure the injectors are fine. what could i check in this mess of a project.

jesus just send them out to witchhunter performance and they will clean them for less than 100 bones. hell even less than 80 for all four.

An injector which is frozen open will FILL the intake manifold or engine with fuel after running for a few seconds. It is very obvious. It's doubtful that the engine could ever start without extraordinary measures like a push start.

The easiest way to see if an injector is stuck open is to remove the upper intake and run the fuel pump (use the yellow check connector). You will be able to see and hear the injector spraying.

does it have something to do with the fact that you are using high impedance injectors ina low impedance car? did you remove the resistor pack and bypass it?

You should be using whatever injectors were on your old engine if all you did was replace the engine. Send out the injectors originally on your car to Witchhunter to get them cleaned. They did all 4 for me for $60 shipped back.

Drop them in, and you should be fine.

i did switch the injectors from the old engine to new engine and the pig tails were in horrible shape so i sodered new ones on. i had the injectors cleans and filters and all rubber replaced less that 6 months ago and i havent driven with them for more than 20 miles. so i am assuming they are in good shape. but i went to start it this morning and now when i flip the switch to shut off fuel pump, it works. i think i may of had it so freaking flooded that it just had a lot of gas to burn up. now it's running incredibly rich. how do you tune an rx7 s4 turbo
