Injector swap
I need some injectors in my car and I'm broke. BUT, I do have my AWD talon's injectors which are 550cc also. Besides the ohms differance cause I have a 90, wouldnt I be able to use these injectors? The look to be extremely similiar while their on the car. I havent pulled em off either car yet to put em side by side, but I thought I'd save myself the time and trouble by just asking. Anyone know?

Are the talon low imp? Just wire in a resistor.
|
What's wrong with your ones?
|
Why do you suspect it's your injectors? You haven't pulled them off yet so why do you think it's the injectors? What is your car doing?

It floods, runs too rich, and I've tried to adjust it multiple times to no avail. I'm almost positive its the injectors. I've checked vacuum lines repeatedly and found nothing. All of them in the right place and uncracked. SO, what I was gonna do is pull the whole intake off and remove my rats nest, replace the injectors, replace the remaining vacuum lines just to make sure, do the TB mod, and possibly even remove my OMP and go to premix.
The talon injectors are low imp. So yea I would need some resistors. |
Flooding can also be caused by low compression. If it is the injectors, it's only becuase they're dirty. Remove them and have them professionally cleaned. It's unusual to have to actually replace injectors.
How do you know it's running too rich? Even if it is, the injectors aren't the likely culprit. |

That won't work nearly as well as professional cleaning. They use ultrasonic cleaning to remove crud that is caked on too hard for chemicals to remove.

Talon injectors are 450cc. I strongly reccomend you reconsider this "mod" :P

You sure? I could have sworn they were 550 also. Hmmm. Ill do a compression check with my fingers crossed. It its gone its gone. Rebuild and a streetport will have to suffice as a replacement.:p:

besides, a lot of times, even if it is the injectors, it is the o-rings that go bad. Why would you look at new injectors before you even know for certain?? You're putting the cart before the horse here. Pull out your injectors and look at the o-rings on them. This is common. For a few bucks you can get a new set of o-rings, put them on and put it back together. a LOT less expensive than new injectors. or better yet, I would just send them out to be professionally cleaned while they are out--less than $100. It certainly won't hurt the car any to get them cleaned, and if one of your injectors really is bad itself, they can tell you this way.
Also--there are multiple causes of this, like someone said about your compression. You need to do more diagnosing before you start tearing everything apart. |
if they are stock talon injectors, they are 450cc
