Injector removal page 4a-70 of the fsm

This is in the fuel section, but if you didn't know that I'd prefer if you didn't try to answer my question ;)

So, they say that you should attach fucking wire to the injectors unto the delivery pipe.

why?

If you don't can something break? how are the injectors secured? is it just by the delivery pipe bolts?

thx

yea i searched for 'injector removal' and didn't find anything that answered the above questions.

I didn't look at at, but I assume you found the page that has you checking the injectors for flow & spray patterns. You must secure them to the rail, or the fuel pressures will push them out, and then we could find your location easily by looking for a huge fireball, lol...Wire can be used, or tie-wraps, or...

hahah,
well, in the manual it didn't say anything about having the engine running that I remember, or checking flow patterns. I guess they just want you to take it out that way so that in the next area of the manual you can then do those things.

Really what my question was, if I could just disconnect the fuel pump, let the engine die out, then take off the TB, then take off the delivery pipe, THEN the injectors, and if that was ok to do.

I just did this a couple weekends ago. Basically as you say, except the fuel injectors came out with the delivery pipe. You then just twist and pull them to get the injector out of the pipe. Have rags because fuel in the pipe will come out.

Just undo the bolts holding down the fuel rails and disconnect the injector clips. As said above have a rag handy because fuel will come out.

You need to read these things a bit more carefully. Note the words Inspection and leakage test next to the picture of the injectors wired to the rails. The actual removal of the injectors is covered on the next pages.

Yeah removal is cake, just unbolt them. If you want to be more anal about it, kill the fuel while the car is running so they dont spray you with petro while you're unhooking them..
