injector removal?
 

What's involved in removing the injectors and what parts/gaskets would I need to replace them? Pitfalls?
I'm considering sending mine off for cleaning.

i just did this and im new to fixing cars and such. it is not that hard of a task. you remove the primary fuel rail pull out the injectors then pull off the intake manifold and remove the secondary fuel rail and pull those injectors. you will have to replace the intake manifold gasket and the plenum gasket. i didnt replace these and now i have a huge vacuum leak causing my car not to run. i am replacing these tommorow.

Actually the secondary rail is the long one, the primaries are under the intake.

You NEED to get new o'rings for each injector plus four new grommets to go on the bottom of each injector. And lets not forget the four upper grommets on each injector and I'll bet money that they will need four new pintles for the bottom of each injector if you send them out to be cleaned(never done that myself). Go to the Mazdatrix.com web site for pictures of the parts needed. Sorry, I don't replace any intake gaskets when doing the above.

You can also order o-ring kits from places like Checkers or Auto-zone

Yo. I shoulda said that. Look at the Mazdatrix site for pictures, buy where ever you can for the cheapest price and quick turn around. I bought the o'rings and grommets at Steves Foreign Auto Parts on West Vickery. Had 'em in stock. Good place to buy parts in Ft Worth. I really should explain the lower grommets. They get rock hard over the years. Your depending on them making a good seal b/t the injector and the housing they sit in. The new ones will be malable and seal real good, eliminating those pesky vac leaks that cause crummy idling. The 0'rings are a must to prevent leaking fuel on a hot exaust.

Thats alright HAILERS, I got your back. I usually go to Checkers and buy a bunch of sets. The sets come with the small o-ring up top and the other 2 big ones you need.

I got rebuilt fuel injectors from NOPI for $28 each.

They came with all new O-rings and grommets :D

watch out for the injector clips!!!!!!!!!!! they get hard and will break realy realy easy, just thought you might want to know before you go about breaking 3 like me :) (btw i have a tII so thats 3/4)

So you must remove the manifold to get them out huh? How long should it take for a moron with good tools?

It will take about as long as it takes you, to figure out your not able to do the job.

Removing the manifold isn't entirely difficult. Took me about 2 hours the first time... now I can do it in less than 30 minutes. You'll probably have to buy a bunch of vacuum lines, though, as the old ones are more than likely stiff and brittle.

took me about... 3 minutes (my first time) i spent about 2 minutes unbolting stuff and checking if all the things were bolted on good(bac valve etc) and ripped that sucker out... you may want to take the genteler(spelling) approach, but i plan on replacing alot of that crap anyways...
