Injector question
Does anyone know if it makes a difference where you solder in a resistor when you install low impendance injectors into a car that had high impedence injectors? I soldered mine at the ECU instead of under the hood to keep them out of the heat and elements.
I have heard that it needs to go on the voltage wire under the hood. I have also heard that it doesn't matter which wire is used, voltage or ground, as long as the ECu is seeing the correct resistance. When I meter the wire to the ECU, I getting readings from 12.3-12.5 ohm. |

We sent the injectors from the parts car out to have them cleaned and tested. While installing the cleaned injectors, we noticed the difference. Since the parts car was already gone at this point, I did a search online and found a link that gave detailed instructions on using a 10 watt 10 ohm resistor and soldering it inline on the ground wires at the ECU. The cleaned injectors did not make a difference in the problem I was having with my car. So now I am diving deeper into the wiring and have found a short between wires for the different injectors. Since I now need to either buy a new harness or fabricate something to replace the damaged wires, I am trying to determine if I should move the resistors to the voltage wire or leave them alone. |
You can put the resistor on either wire.
