I'm paying $300 cdn to get my engine flood fixed....
I'm wondreing if i'm getting ripped off for paying 300 cdn for fixing the injectors so that my engine flood will be fixed?
|
Are you buying new injectors or are you getting them done by a place like RC engineering?
|
The guy said something about cleaning the injectors. i live in canada. Before i bought my car, the guy said that he wasn't gonna pay mazda dealership 500 bucks to do it. So he went and asked this rx-7 specialist that is in our club and he quoted 300 bucks. My car is in now, and i just feel uneasy about the price cause i keep reading about 25 bucks -30 bucks for cleaning each injector.

yeah, i don't live in CA but thx anywayz. i'mm just pretty worried about getting ripped off u know. he said 95%it would cure the problem. But if not
300 bucks down the drain ssorta thing. |
My 1988 FC was flooded and wouldn't start for 6 months till i did the easy 3-step procedure here. Took several tries but it actually worked. Wish it was this easy on my FD. http://www.rx7.com/tech/unflood-fc.html I have to do it about twice a year for whatever reason but it's a minor annoyance.

it is fairly expensive, but you have to also include the re-re of the upper intake manifold, the new o-rings, insulators, spacers, and mixing plates. As well, hopefully vacuum line replacement is included.
|
I think it's a fair price
$100 US for cleaning the injectors + new grommets and o-rings rest would be labor (taking off and putting back the upper intake) Now, will that actually fix your flooding problem ? Most likely, but if your engine is compression challenged (read, low compression), it may not help much. Installing a fuel cut-off switch is then a good band-aid. You may want to have the mechaning check the fuel pressure when engine is hot, maybe it's too high (fuel pressure regulator or fpr solenoid may be worth looking into then if too high) Hugues - |
I sent my injectors to Rich at Cruzin Performance, he cleaned and flow tested them, returned them to me with new o-rings seals and filter screens, cost me about $75 CDN
They were in his shop for a couple of days, shipping 3 days, so with the outgoing trip, about 2 weeks total. You could do the R+R yourself, depends on how keen you are to save money;) |
yeah, i have to toggle switch and everything, i just don't like filling up at alf tank cause the gas is so effin expensive in Vancouver. Ans also i think he's been using the toggle switch for awhile so i decided to fix to problem. And also it's hard to start up in the morning when it's cold.
|
yeh, I took injectors out and cost me about 80ish cnd to get them cleaned, flow tested and new o-rings and grommets (dunno if I spelled right)
|
300cdn is a rip off..
I paid 25CDN for each injector down on marine drive. where in burnaby are u located? |
Is this including labor? I'd figure a shop would probably charge about 2hrs. to remove and re-install everything.
|
i'm guessing it's including labour. but i'm still pretty worried about the pricing and it's been taking awhile.
In the brentwood area. Marine drive as in North Van? |
ok 300 cdn including labour
makes sense now thx for all the help i should get my car soon, i'll post some pics for u all |
It's not that bad a price if you are paying a shop to do the laybour. Let's say the cleaning costs $150 (quiet plausable) and the laybour is $75/hour 1 hour to remove 1 to put it back together.
|
yeah, it's reasonable. some shops say how much it costs but don't say how much the additional labour costs. I'm not that worried about it anymore. He's almost finished it so yeah. Gotta put in the spark plugs after he's done.
|
where is it at?
that's not bad. remvoing and reinstalling the UIM is a bitch. more then a few hours of labour. plus you need new intake gaskets etc. you should get them to change all the vac lines while the intake is off. shouldn't be too much more money. alot eaiser now while it's all apart. |
i think it might be a little too late. i think they are done now, it just needs to sit for 12 hours after it's cleaned. That's wut i heard from this one mechanic. But scott, it's at Chris's shop. Eunos...
