I'm I retarded? (how much would you pay)

Alright as some of you may or may not know I passed up an opertunity to get an s5 tII with 54k original miles with a bad motor for 500 bucks. This was one of my worst mistakes however I think I'm about to do it again! Right down the road from where I live is a mechanic shop where there is a 88 convertable with fresh paint, aftermarket bumper and spoiler (3kgt I believe) Anyways the interior is ok would need new vents and I'm not to sure of the shape of the top but there where no outside rips. Anyways the kicker to this is that the engine had a fire due of course to the fpd so I would have to replace all that stuff under the hood or drop my tII engine in it and convert everything over to that car. I've always wanted a turbo vert and this one is being sold for 800 bucks. Is it worth it??? Some input would be great cause for some reason I'm having a hard time parting with the money.

Well 800 for a mint body sounds pretty good. I paid 700 for my 86 base body, just remember your also gonna ahve to fidn an new engine for her.

MarkPerez 11-26-04 12:25 PM

if you've got the wiring harness for the t2 engine, and ecu then maybe.. because fire just kills wires and both the insulation on the wires and the hoses make a stink inside the car that takes a long time to get rid of. it also depends on how big the fire got too .

hondahater 11-26-04 12:25 PM

well I might just convert my 88tII to that car so I could have a turbo vert. so that isn't really the issue. I guess whats the biggest issue is my wallet. Damnit! basically I could just replace all the hoses and wiring harness because the fire really didn't do that much damage.

so would you guys get it?

Jager 11-26-04 02:40 PM

If the body is mint

chris7777777 11-26-04 02:45 PM

Hell yeah, get it man !!! Offer 700 $ first and just maybe he'll agree.

I wouldn't let another good deal pass you up.get this car.put in a turbo engine.or what ever.the book is still very strong on a vert.

CompuBob 11-26-04 03:25 PM

<--- read my avatar text, I'll be doing that to you if you pass up this opportunity

hondahater 11-26-04 03:35 PM

damn! You guys are supposed to be talking me out of it :) The body is in perfect condition with brand new red paint and after market bumper (looks nice) with a 3kgt spoiler. Man I just finnised my project now I would have to start all over. Damn what to do what to do.

Bob_The_Normal 11-26-04 03:42 PM

Don't like verts myself, but how many miles were on the engine btw?

You have factored in that if the miles on that engine aren't too high you can easily sell the block... right? It's still good!

That pretty much brings the price down to around 2-300 for a good condition shell? Yeah it's an S4... but if you've got the time, you'll be yet another TII vert owner, which I'm sure is pretty cool.

well I don't know the history of the car but the odometer reads 100k miles so I"m sure its an old motor but easily rebuildable. Thats true I could sell that core....Man oh man if I where only single still this wouldn't even be an issue.

ScrappyDoo 11-26-04 04:43 PM

The car is priced low enough for you to part it out if you changed your mind. Why decide now, buy it and then if you have the time do the TII conversion, I highly recommend it. If you don't have the time part it out and you'll probably make more than the asking price. Clean vert wheels, seats, hood and roof will cover your cost alone. The rest of the money can go to taking your better half out to dinner to convince her about your next project, cause lets face it you're always gonna have a project, its in the rotary blood.

hondahater 11-26-04 04:50 PM

thanks lawyer...........lawyers ghost ...........errrrrr spirit :) I know it's such a damn good deal but if I did this and didn't buy her the 800 dollar camera she wanted (shes a photographer) she would be pissed! I asked her about it and she was real cool about it but I know I would never live it down.....................Still thinking about it though.

jg1bad10th 11-26-04 05:14 PM

I wish this car was closer to me.I'd save you some sleep.

think of it as an early christmas present to yourself. ;)
