Ignition Switch Question
I am fixing an ignition switch that someone was using a screwdriver to start the car.
I got a new ignition switch and there are two wires that look like they were soldered somewhere... and I don't know where. I would have looked at the old switches location if it wasn't hangig under the dash. Can anyone tell me where those wires go and their importance?? Icemark? Paul. |

What color are they?

Get the on-line factory service manual which has a complete wiring diagram. You will need to consult several pages for the ignition switch connections. The links to the manuals are in the FAQ at the top of the 2nd Gen section page.

Me and Fero313 looked through the FSM and couldn't find where these wires went. I believe one is red and one is green. They were NOT connected to the ghetto rigged switch in the car, and they have no plug on them. They look just like Fero313 described, like they solder directly to something.

I think Paul figured it out last night. He got the car running and drove it around. He probably had the insight to open the steering column cover on his other FC and look to see where they go. Its together now.

one is green and the other is red w/ black stripe... all the plugs have connections to the ign switch, i'm guessing its for the key light or something else because both my spare ign switches have the solder connections....

are you talking about the two wires that go on the back of the key ignition? i was pulling out my ignition switch last night and those popped out of the little clear box on the back of the key ignition.
