ignition problem ???

My car is an 88 turbo. I'm not getting ignition (not even the cluster ignition lights turn on).
Battery is new and I have replaced the ignition swith. I have also checked the main relay in the engine bay and all the interior fuses. By the way is the fuse box lid same as the non turbo models?and ofcourse the most important question Is there anything else I should check??
Thanks in advance?

With key to on do the wipers and turn signals work? Have you checked the fuses in the engine bay fuse box such as the 60 amp BTN fuse and the 80 amp Main fuse?

no the wipers and windows etc do not work with key on.but the emergency lights headlights do. I did check the fuses in the engine compartment.
Thanks for the help

I have news for you, your ignition switch is not receiving power or you have some of the plugs to the ignition switch plugged in wrong. The plug at the ignition switch which houses the Black wire and the Black/White wire has to have constant voltage on the Black wire as it is this wire which provides power to the ignition switch. You don't have to pull this plug to check for voltage if you don't want to as you could prick the Black wire with a pin and read the pin for constant voltage. The lights work off of the battery buss fuses which receives power from the BTN fuse in the engine fuse box that is wired directly to the interior fuse box and bypasses the ignition switch.

Thank you Man. It makes a lot of sense, I'll check that out tomorrow after work.:icon_tup:

It's possible that the reason the ignition switch is not receiving power could be due to the Black wire coming from the engine fuse box is w/o voltage before it arrives at the ignition sitch. On the side of the engine fuse box closest to the firewall is a Black wire that drops downward a foot below the fuse box to a black connector that joins the Black wire from the engine fuse box to the Black wire that leads to the ignition switch. If there is no voltage on the Black wire at the ignition switch then you would want to check out the mating of the connector below the engine fuse box to see if there is voltage on either side of the connector.
