Ignition Help Please

I think my ignition might of puked. I have a 91, I dont think this is a common problem, but had anyone encountered this B4? Can anyone assist me in how to check it to see if this is my problem. Right now whenever I turn the key to start the car, theres like a short that will immedietaly put a load on the battery so large that it will drain it 100%. Thats it, any help would be great guys. Thanks Jason

Your comments don't quite make sense...

You say there is a short that drains the battery at crank, but the car does not crank???

Sound like a bad battery terminal to me, if the battery is in good condition???

Are you sure that the battery is putting out 12.5 volts??? Have you tested the battery for load/capacity? Is there a current draw in the car???

If there was that strong of a "short" you would be blowing the main fuse as well.

Yes the car will not roll over, it would act like you had no battery at all. I have fully recharged the battery out of the car and have had it load tested, it tested fine. Terminals are clean. I have not checked any fuses as of yet, my next thing to check on thats on my list is the starter, but its so damn cold outside, plus a foot of snow!!! I have today off from work and need to get it resolved. THanks

If you jump the starter at the starter does the car crank??

Either way it won't drain the battery all the way down just trying to crank once

if no fuses are blown the starter wire could be shorting out. there are no fuses between the starter and battery. but check the fuses first.

Well, I dont know what to think now. First off let me say "I Hate Electrical Problems!!!" LOL I threw the battery back in the car after it had ben sitting in the house for 3 days. Hooked er up and the started, Drove it around a little, turned it off started, again and again and again. No problems, So maybe I did have some small bit of corrosion on the posts somewhere, I dont know. I guess time will only tell. Thanks Ice and Scott. Jason
