Ignition Diagnosis, need interperetation
O.k. I did a little searching, and a little diagnosis:
I am trying to set the timing on an '86 NA motor, and I am having 2 problems: 1: leading and trailing fire at the same time 2: Front leading fires 2x per revolution, rear leading fires 1x per revolution. Here's what I did: After I set the leading timing to the mark, I opened up the CAS, and pointed the timing gun at the guts. With the pickup on L1, it makes a cross shape. With the pickup on T1, it makes a line, exactly in line with one arm of the L1 cross With Pickup on T2, it makes a line 90 degrees from the T1 line With the pickup on L2, it makes a line matching the T2 line. To me this suggests 2 problems: 1: the leading and trailing are firing at the same time 2: my leading coil is bad Anyone have any thoughts as to what may be wrong? There were a couple of posts asking this question, but no responses/solutions. |
Until the engine is warmed up,the lead and trail fire at the same retarded degree It is written in the FSM and can be seen on a Palm if you had a RTEK2.0

Hmm, definitely had the engine warmend up... I'm not that much of a newb.
I did, however, forget to plug the vac line into the Manifold Pressure Sensor. That may have done it. I'll keep diagnosing, and post up results. |
if it helps Fedsy, I have a known good leading coil you can try if you think thats the problem....good luck!
