Ignition coil interchageability... try this again

Tried to edit my origional post and no luck...

I am in need of some replacement coils, Mods not looking to buy here. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the FD coils are a direct replacement for the FC coils. I have access to some used coils in good condition just wanted to be sure that they would work. If anyone could tell me it would be greatly appreciated.

If they are not a direct replacment what would need to be done to make them work?

Not even close, don't bother trying. Look for FC ones.

Thanks... any idea why? Different signalling?

They are the same "signalling", but don't expect them to be drop in.
The FD coils run off a "remote" ignitor, while the FC coils fire off the built-in ignitor at the base of the coils.
In fact, they are *smaller* and considered to be inferior to the larger FC units.
If you're looking for a performance upgrade, this is not it.

many FD owners put FC coils in as an 'upgrade' because the fd ones suck
