You can use RTV if you want a big leak all over the place.

Wrong, he's talking about the oil pickup inside the oil pan, RTV works fine as long as you let it fully dry and seal (24 hours) before putting **** back together and running the car.

It can cause low pressure if there is a gap between the tube and the block. Air will get sucked in instead of oil, causing low pressure. Also the pump has to be installed so that the tally marks are aligned correct as shown on page 2-14 of the FSM.

What if the outer tally mark is installed backwards? Would that cause low oil preasure?

Are you talking about the tally marks facing the front Iron?? You used the words "lined up" The FSM showed the tally marks next to each other. Did miss something??? I just had my tally marks facing out. I didn't "line up" any of them?

if you are sure you forgot the gasket then i would remove the oil pan and put a new one in place, better than risking it with RTV which may or may not seal, RTV in cerain areas such as this are not a great idea.

and you may want to double check the sender unit connections and be sure that the capacitor mounted to the slave cylinder has a nice clean and solid ground.

well, if they don't rotate at the same speed, they won't stay lined up so it won't matter. But someone posted a thread a few days ago about not having it installed correctly and that was the cause of the low pressure.

EDIT: Nevermind, this is the same guy who had the problem with the pump and he already fixed that.

they don't rotate at the same speed, the FSM merely points out that they should be facing forward together.

Hehe, I wish I lived in your area bro, I've replaced my oil pan in the car once already and it wasn't too bad. I just used a 10mm wrench and socket and it took ~3 hours from removal to install.

I miss working on my 7 though, arrrrrgggg.
