Idleing High, Please help!

I recently bought a 87 TII. It has a new engine and only had (30) miles on it. Now I have 2000 or so miles. Ever since I bought it It wants to idle high (1500 rpm) once the engine has come up to normal operating temperature. I hace checked the MAS, BAC, Idle air screw, and even adjusted the time back to its original location. It still wants to idle around 1300 rpm. has anyone else experinced this or know what my next step would be to go about resolving this issue!!! Thanks

have you checked the thermowax/fast idle cam ? it could be set wrong or broken.

90% chance it's the fast idle cam.

Could you give me quick overview of the fast/cam and what is the thermo wax. And how do you adjust!! Thanks

The thermowax has a piston that gradually extends when the water temp rises. On top of that piston is the end of a screw. The screw is attached to a cam. The cam rides on a roll pin. The roll pin is connected to the throttle plate lever.

When cold, the fast idle cam rides on the roll pin and that keeps the throttle plates open a touch more than when the engine is fully heated. As the water gets hotter the piston rises up and eventually moves the cam off the roll pin and closes the throttle plates to their factory setting.

Something like that. SEe the fsm then take the intercooler off and take a look at the real thing.
