Idle confusion...
 
Ok I know there may be a thread about this already but this is a specific problem that should hopefully have a simple answer. I just buy my second 87 RX7 N/A. Great little car I love. Such a shame I sold my first. Anyways, it runs great. Except… two thing.

1. Starting the car is a bit of a bish. I go to turn it and nothing really happens. it will click and it will only start up when I actually turn the key and put my foot on the gas pedal. MY old car had a fuel switch so that didn't really affect it like this car. What should I do about that problem?

2. The car will not idle by itself until it is a bit warmed up. Not too bad but I do have all the emissions removed. I didn't do that part but it doesn't bother me since I took all that crap off my old rx7 anyways. The Idle air control valve is not Plugged in however, I don't think it needs to be? I would like to turn the car on without sitting and revving it a bit though. Could that just be the idle air control valve or possibly another idea? There is a bypass air valve isn't there? IT could be thereof it could not be… I haven't worked on an rx7 in awhile but so eager to get back to it! By the way when it does idle it idles at a perfect non fluctuating 950rpm.

If the BAC is not plugged in, (Idle air control valve) It needs to be. It helps with warming the car up and helpping it run when cold. Check for the obvious something not connected when the PO removed all the parts from the car. Did they delete something they shouldn't have?

And yes it is unplugged. It looks like the male end has a bit of oil on it though… no good? Really not much.

People think it's part of the emissions system when in reality it is not at all. And could you run this by us one more time. You state that if you just turn the key the only thing which occurs is a clicking sound. On the other hand, if you press down on the throttle as well as turn the key the engine starts. Is this correct or not. And make sure after the car has been driven for at least 20 minutes that the voltage on the Green/Red wire at the TPS measures 1 volt w/key to on.
