ID this Flywheel!
I have a bunch of misc RX-7 parts in this frankencar that I'm trying to ID the range of so I know what to replace it all with. :)
Can anyone ID this flywheel? http://majica.net/JNR/Devpics/kladapterfly.JPG |
Its a N/A flywheel.

go to racing beats site they have a flywheel identifyer if I remember correctly
|
I'm going with its aftermarket and it might not even be a Rx flywheel since it has 8 bolt holes for the counter weight to bolt to instead of the normal 6, I could be wrong just never seen one with 8 holes. So OP take and measure the width of the old Clutch Disc if you still have it and compare:
Turbo= 240mm Clutch Disc NA=225mm Clutch Disc I think the 12A(71-early 80's) was 215mm Clutch Disc(might be wrong here also)

wait a sec, whats the adapter plate for?
it almost looks like the vw flywheel/adapter plate setup......but it would still only have 6 bolts it looks like a vw flywheel imo, probably wrong Lloyd |
The car is a Miata, but has a 2.5L V6 in it. The previous owner made this set of stuff, which includes a Miata transmission that has the bellhousing swapped for an FC N/A bellhousing (so that the starter moves to transmission-side), and the motor has an adapter plate to change from the KL to an RX-7 flywheel of some sort. I know the car actually has an RB aluminum flywheel now, and that that pic was from test fitting only, but was hoping that it was a straight forward RX-7 flywheel so I knew what I was getting into. I'll prolly just tear off the transmission this weekend (pain in the butt since the headers are in the way) and see what's in there so I know what I'm replacing.

Well Codingparadox that flywheel in the pic isnt in any shape, way, or form a OEM Rx-7 flywheel. Now with the new info about the car im going with its a Fidanza flywheel for Ford Probe, Mazda 626, and Mazda MX6 since it looks like the same one if compared.
