I was wondering if oil filters for mazda 5, cx-7, and miata will fit on a FC?

I was looking for oil filters for my 1989 GTU and I saw some filters that are good price. The filters are genuine mazda filters that fits on 2006- 2012 miatas, 2008- 2012 mazda 5s, and 2010 cx-8s. I was wondering if the oil filters can fit on a FC?

Miata, RX7 thread size M20x1.5, but 5, CX7 is 3/4"-16.
Best check applications for particular filter.

the Rx7 uses a B6Y1 filter, the Skyaktiv cars use a similar filter, but it is different inside, and its probably ok on the Rx7, but you don't want to use the Rx7 filter on the skyaktiv cars. the cars that use the duratech/ecoboost/MZ/volvo engines (~2003-2012) use an LF05(?) filter, its similar in size but not compatible.

the other option for the Rx7 is the JE15-14-302 filter, its basically a taller B6Y1, and was installed on the MPV/626, car be tricky to find, those cars are dead.

if you are looking in the aftermarket, it gets really confusing really fast, they are very sloppy

I know the same part numbers for filters apply to 2nd Gen dsms, 95-1999 turbo 4g63 Mitsubishi cars. I have a case of Mitsubishi filters because reasons. Last oil change on my rx7 upon part number cross search (I had a hunch) found they use the same filters, I can only recommend wix and mitsubishi filters (made by wix) because all other filters Ive watched tear downs on, upon torn apart were trash.

Wix makes an excellent oil filter. If I don't have a Mazda oil filter around I will use one or use a Mahle filter. Purolator filters are actually pretty good as well. I avoid everything else. The B6Y1 filters are what I would stick with. They are designed to work with the rotary and feature an anti drain back valve. This is needed at the filters are mounted upright.

i like the Wix too, its the only one that actually lists all the specs, https://www.opticatonline.com/part/b...302a&ctx_iam=1

there is a spec for particle size, AND for how many particles the filter can hold, a long life filter can usually hold a little more junk, but they also do not filter as well, so think about how you use the car, and buy appropriately

Miata, FD, FC,, and 3rd gen Protege can all use an oil filter for a 2000 Mazda 626 with a V6. It's a bit bigger (taller) but fits fine.

Wix for a 2000 626 V6. Been using them for years. :) Never drove or even sat in a CX-anything so I cant comment there, but all 4 of those I listed use the same filter.

Will the B6Y1-14-302-9A filter work?

what year MPV/626?
ive been using Mobil1 extended life filters, I was using Bosch for a while before that I used to order a bunch at at time from Mazda but I thought there was some discussion a while ago to the mazda filter being different and not as good as it used to it?
I see a lot of Subaru filters on rotaries as well

Mazda is actually stocking both the Japanese B6Y1-14-302A and the US made B6Y2-14-302-P1, same filter, different manufacturer.

the 89-98 MPV filter is G6Y0-14-302 -P1, US made. JEY0-14-302A is the Japan sourced part number, they seem to be out at the moment

the Japanese ones were the same except the height, and more filter = better

Rob XX 7 03-11-20 04:53 PM

i guess being upside down you dont get the slight additional capacity
