I went to court today for driving under suspension.

I went to court at 9 this morning. I didnt have a lawyer, and planned on pleaing guilty to driving under suspension without insurance . Well, I explained my story and the judge understood that I was so close to gettin my license back, (all I had to do was order insurance and pay the reinstatement fee and my suspension was up), that she told me I had a month to get my license back, and then I had to show her that I got it. Soooo, I have to got back on Feb. 5th, with my license of course, and she will probally give me a nice fine, and I dont know but I think she might take it away again. This just seems to have gone to smoothly so far that I think it could have a bad ending. Ill keep you guys posted on what happens the 5th.

I've been busted 4 times for driving on suspended license. :( The thing that sucks the most about them (other than the fact they'll put you in jail and impound your car) is that it stays on your record for 3 years, and it is the same as having a negligent driving (in the eyes of an insurance company). Oh yeah, I also have a negligent driving in the 2nd degree on my record. Thats why I don't have insurance, can't afford it. :( The company that I work for just changed ownership, and they were getting insurance for our work truck, but they can't because of my record. So now they can't let me drive.

Good call my friend, but since I replaced my base intake gasket my car hasnt toned down twice as much.

1Loud7-So are you saying you dont have any insurance at all and you still drive? You need to PM me because Ive had a very bad drivin record. Just a couple are DUI, reckless op, and even a 12 point suspension. Im on my own policy and my insurance is only 507 every 6 months for liability.

You guys are lucky.

In some counties in CA unless you have a good lawyer it is a minimum fine of $1450, or 7 days in lock up for first offense. 2nd offenses or the judge doesn’t like you are the fine + 7 to 14 days. Sometimes they tack on weekend work crew (spending your weekend days picking garbage for 8 hours a day on the side of the road) for a couple of months, too if they think you are not being sorry enough.

They treat Driving W/o license the same as a DUI, its just shy of a felony proceeding.

The only reason I know this is that I had my license suspended for 6 months (120 in a 70) a about 5 years back, and the CA DMV "forgot" to re-instate it after the 6 months were up. I got pulled over driving a friends car (with expired tags) they ran my license and said it was still suspended. Lucky when I went to court I could show that the suspension was supposed to be dismissed, so the DA dropped the case.

2 years ago when i was in TN, i was driving on my international drivers licence (issued in CZ, by agreement between USA and Czech Republic VALID for driving in all states of USA and CANADA) I bought car in Ontario, get insurance policy and licence plates (all on my international drivers licence) and drove 20 000 miles in 3 months or so....I was pulled only once in some small city in Utah (doing 40 in 30 zone or so ;o)) And that time officer had no comments to my licence, he just told me to go slower next time and whished me good trip. Then in Morrisstown (or whats the right name;o), Tenneessee i had small accident on stoplight at rain (no damage on my car, but car in front of me had smashed bumper and ligths), officer comes and asked for drivers licence and insurance policy. Insurance was ok, but he said that my drivers licence is not valid. It was valid, but i was not able to believe it. He gave me $60 ticket for following to closely and $80 for driving without drivers licence and let me drive away...Court was set for date when i was supposed to be back in europe. But before i left, he told me that i could came back with valid US drivers licence and my $80 ticket for driving without it would be dismissed. So next week i came back, went to DMV and did drivers licence (it was $16 or so). With that licence i went to court, and they looked at it, said ok and i saved over $60 ;o))

Thats the only reason why i have us drivers licence ;o))
