i took off the airpump, but i didnt take off the thing in behind it

dont have the money for it now. is it ok if i leave it there for a few. or should i put the air pump back on. i just want to know if it is safe to drive it. with me just sealing off the acv

i think you should block it off.... banzaitoyota sells the block off plates for like 30 bucks... pretty cheap..

sorry bud, but school and work is more important to me right now. also i have to pay rent, insurance, and buy food. i live on my own and never had a family to wipe my ass when i get into trouble or need some allowance. once out of school in a year and a half. i will have money. also this is the fatal month of insurance. and i do fish

Sounds like you'd better put your airpump back on untill you can afford to take it off "the right way"



You could always donate plasma.

If you take the airpump off, and only the airpump and leave the acv in place, you don't have to do squat to anything else. On deceleration there is a item inside the acv called the Anti Afterburn valve that lets air into the air intake and that air won't be filtered, but that's only during deceleration.

And if you take the airpump off, you know the catalytic converter will, after a period of time, become useless. If you don't have a catalytic converter, disregard.

And just in case...................sometimes someone will take the airpump off and notice a *different* idle. The reason is most likely the anti afterburn valve in the acv has been leaking unauthorized air into the intake under airpump pressure. So when the airpump is removed, the leak may still be there, but it won't be under airpump air pressure so the idle will change a touch. Normaly the anti afterburn valve should not ever leak.

The very most I'd do after the pump removal, is to put a piece of duct tape/plug/whatever over the port where the airpump feeds the acv. Mostly to keep dirt out.

thanx again, it now idles even better. i pluged the holes with pepsi caps. they snap on. an it now idles a 750 with no rattle or anything.

so you get dirty, unregistered air going into your intake every deceleration assuming your acv is even functioning correctly? Sounds like your risking killing your engine for at most 1hp gain. I removed my airpump, Acv and the other thing under the intake that I can't remember the name of right now. Anyways we made block off plates at the cost of 10mm thick aluminum plate. I doubt that will cost you more than 5 bucks and considering you're "poor" but can purchase a new exhaust that should be definetly within ur price range.

listen i will remove the acv, i just need to go pick up some metal now. and trace the acv on paper to cut it out. then some bolts, maybe 5 bucks. just tired and didnt think of do that.
