I Think i killed my baby..

WELL``... long story short i was driving and usually when i was shifting from first to second in high rpm's or even barely above 3,500 rpm i would hear a screeching noise..and since my gears are pretty loose i just figured it was my clutch or some shit..but now it even does it in first gear when im not shifting..it does it like at 3500 rpm and the higher i go the worse it gets it sounds basically like what a bad belt sounds like..but the belts are new..300 miles or less..then i looked under the hood and fucked with the throttle and i thought it was a belt for a second but then i got to the passenger side of the hood and it sounded like it was coming from under the car..but when i got under it..it sounded like it was on top..and the more i listened the closer i got..the closest i can figure out is that it sounds like its actually coming from the engine..or headers..my dad took a listen to it..and he said it was the valves...??
what valves?

my dad said the same thing about my old honda i busted because i had a long drive and i was low on oil pretty much the last 30 minutes before i got home..but the valves or watever was making noise was making a sort of knocking or tapping noise not a screeching or whisking noise,(like the rx7 is doing).....

to be more specific..

it does it around 3k...and goes away like at 6-7 thousandRPM.?
and usually in first.or shifting from first to second..but it doesnt do it in second or any other gears...but if it does ..it only does it in second at like 3k..???wtf..what the hell could it be...:wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash:

sorry that this thread is soo long i just want to be as specific as possible..:Wconfused

can this be fixed?
what is it that needs to be fixed?
how did it most likely happen?

please help...
i bought this car with my own money...
(oh yea im 18 fresh out of school with a part time)

how much would it cost if it does need to be fixed?

Change your oil and see if there is anything in your oil. Does it make any clattering noises or just that screech? Any abnormal clutch behavior?

Check that your belts are nice and tight.

um when its idling..i can hear i tiny bit of it..and i think meaby a little bit but the screeching definitely overpowers the clattering if there is any...the oil..i changed that at the same time..actually a tiny bit after i changed the belts and sparkplugs??

change the oil you say?look for what exactly in the old oil?

could be your pilot bearing on your fly wheel, check that

Look for any fine shiny material. It would look like metallic dust in the oil. This comes from spinning a bearing. If you don't hear a distinct knock, it isn't likely your issue.

my t/o bearing used to make an unbearable racket, and then suddenly the car didn't go into gear anymore... it made a nice whirring sound at idle before it died (the bearing, not the motor) completely, it might be worth taking a look at clutch and transmission pieces that could fail.

yea im not getting knocking or any distinctive clatter as much as the overpowering sound of screeching like a bad belt with the slight follow up of a tiny roar-growl type shit..

its not the belt though im pretty sure..i wish it was and that one would snap so i could be relieved already..but it really sounds like its coming from the lower part of the engine..

like i said i was thinking it would be the clutch slipping between 1st and 2nd..cause i did grind the gears a couple times between those 2 shifts and i figured the clutch would be old and need to be replaced..but why does it do it in first when im not even touching the clutch?..OH YEA..

also reminds me a couple times i figured it wasnt catching gears until i did a small test to see a theory of mine..and whenever i was riding med-high rpm's in first i held the clutch down but didnt shift..and i would get the same noise..but now it does it almost all the time...

but then again why am i getting that tiny little clapping noise almost by the headers at IDLE!?? if its a clutch or something..you cant hear it inside or even outside the car.. unless the hood is open and u listen for it..but its definitely there..any more ideas??

every once in a while when im at a stop it doesnt wanna go into 1st gear for like 2-3 attempts..but it always does after like the 2nd or 3rd..but this is VERY seldom..

i just..replaced my clutch cylinder meaby 50-75 miles ago..because the clutch would get stuck..or travel to the floor if i laid ANY pressure on it..even if i just rested my foot on it..dont know if that helps anyone diagnose this shiz..

thanks for helping me out guys i REALLY apreciate all the input im getting from everyone and soo soon at that..alot of this is shedding some light on the problems and is making me definitely lean back towards clutch/transmission.
and i know i repeat this alot..but if its clutch or tranny? why is it giving a tiny clapping noise at idle from the engine..and its really down low by headers like i said meaby LIM??
