I really need to quiet down my car...

I have 2.5" piping all the way with RB header, RB pre-silencer and magnaflow mufflers. I like my current setup but it is too loud on the street. Would putting back the stock mufflers produce a better sound?

I think I need to rephrase my post above. I guess what I wanted to get rid off is the chainsaw sound when I do a WOT. I want a more deeper sound. Do you guys have any suggestion?

get a resonator or something. i think racing beat sells some kind of presilencer also. anyways, either of those will quiet the car down a bit and mellow out the exhaust note a touch.

Put a borla XR-1 inline, where the cat would normally go. Drops sound by 7 dB, and flows wickedly.

I already have the pre-silencer and that made my system louder and did not eliminate that chainsaw sound.

I have an both an HKS exhaust and "replica" RB exhaust. Both sound good. The HKS is deep and has a nice "zzzzzz" at higher rpms. The RB "replica" has a nice raspy/powerful sports car sound.

If you really have the "honda" sound then I'd say something is not right on your setup. If you complaining about overall volume, then you'd need the presilencer & better muffling mufflers to get rid of that.

Just some more to think about, rotaries do not sound the same as other cars.

I have 3" piping from the turbo back to a Y and 2 2.5" pipes to the back. Its not that loud really. Sort of sounds like a high lift cam at idle. I am however putting 2 straight through mufflers on by my family's request. They arent REAL enthusiasts...boo Anyone know a good low sounding, straight through, <$150 muffler? Going for quieter at idle.

I have the same setup as you with magnaflow straight through mufflers. There are less than $150 but not very quiet. If you are going with straight through mufflers, I don't think you will achieve very much quiet.

I have heard a rx7 turbo with dual exaust and flowmaster 40 series mufflers and 2 of the pre-silences best exaust I have ever heard, never a sound quite like it.

I have a custom header to 3" free flow exhuast and it sounds like a piston motor with a radical cam in it but when its at WOT its sounds like
100 chainsaws. But its better that way it scares the shit out of ricers when I pass them and shoot a big flame.
