I need your suggestions.

I found a 2nd gen RX-7 with 13b with 133,000 miles on it for $600, it needs a new paint job. And the guy told me that sometimes when the engine gets hot, the car dies, but if you turn the ignition on again it will start in a sec. The guy told me that it's not a very hard thing to fix. But since I never owned a car with a rotary engine before I'm still deciding whether I should buy it or not. Please tell me is it worth it?

Well, there isn't much info here to go by. hows the oil pressure, idle, acceleration. this will kinda give you a good Idea of what condition the engine is in. Can't tell you if it's worth it without seeing the car. the car diein when it's hot can be a few things. Mine use to die when you came to a stop when it was hot. the throttle needed adj. 133K miles isn't too bad. And 600 for a running car isn't bad as well.

$600 for a running car is not too much to lose. I would go for it, what's the worst, out $600?

I need to take a test drive on it myself. The guy said it will die sometimes if you come to a stop when the engine is hot., so it might be the same problem as yours. Other than that from what he said the car runs great and is very quick.

It's just that my brother is a mechanic and he said he wouldn't recommend buying it because i'm gonna have too many problems with it, however he hasn't seen the car.

That cracks me up.

My brother said the same damn thing when I was looking at buying a 7.

He's thinking twice about it now, now that I have 224K on it. Ha aha ah. Go for it!!!!

When the car is at normal operating temperature does the idle begin to deteriorate? Does the check engine light turn on? If it turns on then pull the codes and check to see what it is. It sounds like the ACV is on its way out or dead.

What year? If it's an S5, even if it shits out you can make more money parting it out than you bought it for.

Whenever someone says that, I always reply "OK, then why has he not fixed it already?".

If the body and the rest of the car is solid, then it's probably a good deal. The engine problem could be a LOT of things and some troubleshooting will be necessary to fix it. It is likely a heat related issue that is opening a connection somewhere (ie. at the CAS).
