I need Physical wiring Diagrams/Pictures.

I am trying to wire up an 1986 N/A..(doing it from a Crap Job,basically a Bare Car. ..)
Now,what I am looking for is Pictorials for the Drivers Side Wiring,IN the engine bay.
Specifically the Harnesses themselves.
I was able to get a Harness but it is Missing "something"..
I am also missing a "SUB HARNESS" I believe.
This harness goes from the Battery to the Engine Bay Fuse Block and then DOWN to the Transmission and starter.
Can anyone HELP me???>Please?..Thanks in advance..STYX/DAVE.

Download a copy of the factory service manual and wiring diagram. That's about the best available info on this topic. A Haynes manual may help a bit as well.

I keep on trying to OPEN the darn File( manual) after I have downloaded it and it just Gives me a Run around..
if you have any other Links that will work "easier" please post them.
In the meantime,I will switch OS's on my Laptop as it is Windows 7 that is giving me the hard time,.Vista has some of my Rx7 Info in it's favorites.i can try Vista on a Download and see what happens there. Thanks guys,.

You can try this site, but it sounds like the problem is with your computer. Do you have Adobe Reader on your computer? What does "..Gives me a Run around." mean?

THAT is the real ENGINE harness. Don't advertise for a ENGINE harness though, because they'll sell you a Emissons harness, which is the one that goes on top of the engine.

GO to the wiring diagrams that are on this site. Get the wiring diagrams for the 88 model series four. GO to the last few pages of that wiring diagrams and it will show you the various harness on a RX-7 .....what their name is.........and the various items on those harnesses.

You can see in the attached jpg how the ENGINE harness connects to the FRONT harness. The FRONT harness also runs on that side of the engine bay plus it also runs inside the car and over to the passengers side also plus connects to the left side where the interior fuse box is.

That Jpeg of the Harness is Exactly what Is needed on the car I have HAILERS.
Now,the Problem lies with the Harness(main) .It is missing connectors that I am assuming Connect with the Engine bay Fuse Block.
And I know that the Harness is Missing a Retractor connector(dr side) on the Harness..I was thinking IF I can't find the CUT on the harness for that Connector, that I could make a Duplicate Wire "patch" and run it to the Passenger Retractor Light connector.( as the Headlights are supposed to POP up at the same time,.Correct?..this Should be OK?..I hope!)
Thanks for the Info Lads.
OH>.the "run around"" is that it will Download, and then when done,it says.OPEN or save..By hitting either open or Save it does NOTHING.just Pops up the same BOX with Save or open.

If the file actually downloads it will be on your computer somewhere. Find the file and double-click on it.

However, it sounds to me like the file is being blocked by your browser and is not actually downloading. When you right click on the file name and select Save Target As... do you get a message bar at the top of your browser window? If so, right click on the message bar and select Download the file.

SOME early series four have a retract RELAY for each headlight assy located close by to the headlight assy. This relay is NOT shown in the online 88 wiring diagrams. The later series four have the relays built into the headlight assy.

Is this what your asking for? A diagram of the wiring for that relay connector? I'd have to get out the camera and the early wiring diagrams I have to do that. I MIGHT do that later in the day.

Also might attach the wire colors of the wires that go to the engine bay fuse box. Do you have the engine bay fuse box itself??? Actually the wires that go to the engine bay fuse box are a part of that missing ENGINE harness. See the attached jpg. I put a red line near each wire to indicate the (E) letter which lets you know that that wire is a part of the ENGINE harness. The engine harness in turn gets attached to the FRONT harnes (wires with (F) near each wire) to feed various stuff.

HAILERS!..Thanks man..I am sure that the wires that are Cut are FOR the Connectors for the Fuse Block,I was just going to post and ask for Color coding for the Wires.
I have a S5 Battery harness that I took off a car,and I was looking at it.
It is very close to what I need but I saw a Black 6 pin connector with YELLOW on the Inside of the Connector.
I lknow I am Close to getting this thing Figured, either way,BUT I was Just wondering IF I can USE the S5 Battery harness with the S4 Engine harness(drivers side harness)/.the s5 Battery harness has a ALT clip BUT I would not use that since the S4 Emissions harness( passenger side) is the one that has teh lip for the S4 alt to plug into.

The colors of the wires at the engine bay fuse box are shown in the jpg in my last post.

See the jpg I attached of the series four ENGINE harness. See the two plugs identified as connecting to the FRONT harness?????? I don't think the series five ENGINE harness will connect to a series four Front harness. I'l sort of check that out when time provides. Pretty sure I'm right about that.

Attached is a page out of a series FIVE wiring manual. I circled the FRONT TO ENGINE plugs in that jpg. They don't match a series four FRONT TO ENGINE plugs. Ain't a gonna work........five in four car.

A good example of why things won't work using a series five engine harness is this: On a series FOUR car the CAS wiring goes thru the engine harness which then mates with the Front harness to carry the cas signals to the ECU. But on a series five car, the CAS wiring is connected to the EM harness and is carried all the way thru to the ECU.

Series FIVE engine harness does not have the CAS wiring needed for running the car.

Remembering at all times the ENGINE harness is the one with the batt cables and is NOT the one with fuel injector plugs etc. When I say ENGINE harness I do not mean EMISSIONS HARNESS.

Memory tells me a 88 engine harness is slightly different than a early 86/87 cars engine harness. Fairly sure 'bout that.
