I messed up my turbo rebuild...are turbo kit parts sold separatly?
I messed up the front "seal" that sits pressed into the aluminum housing behind the compressor wheel... the part that the compressor housing bolts too. I am not exactly sure what it does, but it is a little spring loaded "seal" however it is a steel case that houses a VERY VERY brittle little black spring loaded seal (thing).
Does anyone know if i can buy that peice individually anywere? Turbocity dosnt have too much on their website just the full kits. Anyone? Also, how are you supposed to instal that>? i used a socket that sat around the outer edge and tapped it in with a rubber mallet. It went in but as i say i shattered the spring loaded black peice. Thanks in advance Crap. 88 S4 TII completely stock turbo, btw. thanks, brandon |
I would check on mazdatrix or just ask at the dealer. I'm sure you can find the part at one of those two places. Contrary to popular opinion, on many parts the dealer isn't really that expensive.

I don't think it's available from Mazda actually. If you look at the parts catalog the turbo is listed as one separate unit. There are no part #s for the individual components of the turbo, as a dealership would simply replace the whole thing. You will have to source an aftermarket solution.

Sounds like the CARBON seal. Carbon be like.....brittle. I think your out some big bucks and are going to have to buy another rebuild kit. That's a GUESS. I know little to nothing about turbos.

Yep, it's the carbon seal.
No, I don't think Mazdatrix would carry just the seal...or any itty-bitty turbo parts. ANY turbo rebuild shop can get it for you. It's all Garrett T3 / T4 turbo parts. -Ted |
Yes, 49 us + shipping later i have another basic rebuild kit on the way. GOD DAMN!
btw, what is the proper method to install this seal? thanks, brandon |
