I love slipping clutches

Well I've been noticing that my clutch would slip towards the upper RPM range of 1st and 2nd gears. The car used to chirp/spin going into second and rarely do it into 3rd, but it doesn't chirp going into second anymore.

Tonight was really bad. I was leaving Walmart and I punch it in first and drop it into second the tach shoots straight up but the car wasn't going any where fast. This is the second time this has happened to me in the past month.

This is my 3rd clutch for the car. The first was the stocker. Then a stock replacement and now the current ACT street disk and heavy duty pressure plate.

I already have a brand new street disk. I might have to get a rebuild kit for the flywheel, $149 (aluminum fly). Which just replaces the friction ring and mounting hardware.

But what pressure plate to run? Anybody with experience with Clutchnet clutches? I've been eye balling them and they seem like decent clutches. I just need the pressure plate... The only people that I've seen sell them separately is ACT and Clutchnet.

how the hell have you been tearing up clutches this bad? constant drag racing and burnouts?

Have you been getting the flywheel machined when you change your clutch? Have you been breaking in properly?

The stock replacement that I threw in there only lasted 6 months. The ACT / SRmotorsports 9 pound flywheel has been in there for about 3 years. I drove on it for about 400 miles before tearing into it. You can't turn the flywheel you just replace the friction disk.

I'm not nice to this car. I have 100's of drag passes on it and that includes burn outs with Mickey Thompson drag radials.

A newer transmission and diff with new mounts everywhere will bo going on at the same time. 5th gear synch and diff are shot.

How long did you have the clutches in for?

Thats what I have now. Just the Clutchnet cluch disk but I'm debating on the pressure plate.

I've read good reviews from the FD guys.

ok well if you've been drag racing a lot that makes sense. I have the ACT 6 puck in my T2 and the street/strip in my GTU. No complaints about either really.

I called Racing Beat and asked about there pressure plates and they said they are made by Exedy. He told me they did some testing and said it would be good till 300 horsepower. Well thats not going to be enough for me.

I called Clutchnet even thought the guy was hard to understand over the phone what I got from him is that the Red x3 is unstreetable and the Red x2 and Yellow can hold more than 400 pounds of torque. I'm going to do more research.
