Hey, if any of you remember, I posted last night that I thought my engine might be done for.

Anyway, started tearing it apart today at around 1:00pm and I am finished already. I ended up taking the TB off, as well as the UIM in order to get to the cause of the overheating problem: that stupid 90-degree hose that runs from the rotor housing to the TB. After pulling that hose off, I knew I needed to replace it, but I also knew that the Mazda parts dept. wouldn't have it in stock (I just finished a 2-year stint in the parts dept there). I went to Autozone where the kid behind the counter said he couldn't find one like it. So, I went behind the counter and looked at their hoses and matched one up in like 10 seconds (the hose I selected had all the bends in it I needed PLUS some, so I cut it down to match perfectly).

Anyway, long story short, the coolant problem is solved, my engine runs sweet, but is idling high right now because I still have to finish adjusting the cable once I get done eating a slice of pizza. Thanks to everyone that helped me out last night when I was unsure of where to start! I definitely learned a lot today about how the top of the engine is put together--never taken one apart this far before.

Thanks again everyone :)

grats!

i figured it was better to try and prolong the inevitable rebuild, the main problem needed to be fixed anyways. ;)

I love those "OMG I BLEW MY MOTOR!!" scares. But it's awesome that you took the time to be calm and do the work yourself. Congrads, man.
