I fixed it! Thanks to all that helped
Hey, if any of you remember, I posted last night that I thought my engine might be done for.
Link: http://64.9.213.132/rx7club.com/foru...d.php?t=405640 Anyway, started tearing it apart today at around 1:00pm and I am finished already. I ended up taking the TB off, as well as the UIM in order to get to the cause of the overheating problem: that stupid 90-degree hose that runs from the rotor housing to the TB. After pulling that hose off, I knew I needed to replace it, but I also knew that the Mazda parts dept. wouldn't have it in stock (I just finished a 2-year stint in the parts dept there). I went to Autozone where the kid behind the counter said he couldn't find one like it. So, I went behind the counter and looked at their hoses and matched one up in like 10 seconds (the hose I selected had all the bends in it I needed PLUS some, so I cut it down to match perfectly). Anyway, long story short, the coolant problem is solved, my engine runs sweet, but is idling high right now because I still have to finish adjusting the cable once I get done eating a slice of pizza. Thanks to everyone that helped me out last night when I was unsure of where to start! I definitely learned a lot today about how the top of the engine is put together--never taken one apart this far before. Thanks again everyone :) |
glad to hear you got it running!

grats!
i figured it was better to try and prolong the inevitable rebuild, the main problem needed to be fixed anyways. ;) |
I love those "OMG I BLEW MY MOTOR!!" scares. But it's awesome that you took the time to be calm and do the work yourself. Congrads, man.

Your welcome.....and, your welcome. (I sprained my elbow patting myself on the back)
