I did the Unflood procedure, and my TACH stopped working, WHY?!
 

My TII wouldn't start after putting gas in it at the gas station. I think I might have cranked my R/L screw a bit too much towards Rich. Anyways, this was the 1st time it happened. So I unplugged the FI fuse and cranked it for a while, plugged it back in and it started. But the car beeped and beeped all the way HOME and no TACH. Finally got home and shut it off, restarted it, and it WORKED! Why does it do that?

Not sure, mine does the same thing sometimes. Always comes back though.

It must trip a circuit or something.

mine too. it really pissed me off sometimes. i would just restart it once rolling(push in clutch, turn key off, then back on and let out on clutch). it worked fine after that.

If both trailing plugs foul up and they dont fire, the tach will stop working. Tach pickup is on the trailing coil.

I don't think it's the fouling of the plugs. It shuts off completely until the key is reset (off then on). My car does the exact same thing...sounds like they all do. I think you can do the reset before you try to restart the engine and it will not happen. Minor annoyance. It does not do this if you use a fuel pump switch to restart the engine...just when the EGI fuse is pulled.

My tach did the same thing. Except it happened all the time whether or not the car flooded. As soon as the car started the tach would die, so I just moved the key really fast to the off position and back to the on position and the tach would come back to life. When I changed my starter the tach never died on me again. I dont know if I accidentaly fixed it or it had something to do with the starter :p

yeah mine does that. when you turn it off again it will work when you turn it back on.

its just anoying driving without a tach.

Thats funny because my tach only worked sometimes .... than when I changed the starter it started working all the time again ..... but the oil pressure guage stopped working when the starter was changed .... oh well ..... can't have everything

haha my oil pressure gauge was dead too! I asked a shop about the problem and they wanted to sell me the whole gauge cluster for $150. So I eventually went to the junkyard and got the oil gauge. Now all of my gauges work :D

The ECU barfed.
This is the reason why I recommend pulling BOTH top two fuses instead of just one.&nbsp If you pull both top two fuses to unflood, the tach will always work.
