I Cant Get The Aux Ports Out! Help!
i cant get the damn sleeves out of the lim, how can i get them out with out damaging them? i was in the middle of trying to clean the six ports and they seem to be soooo gooked up that they wont slide out. i need some input ASAP!

I removed the LIM entirely. Then get a pair of pliers and pull the sleaves out of the block. x10 times easier.

damn, i feel like a dumbass!

well, i got the actuator and the front aux port to work but the rear one is still siezed. and now for some strange reason, my A/F guage is showing that the engine is running lean as lean can get.
when i get on the throttle the voltage comes up just into the red or what would be conciderd lean. on the up side, the car runs like a bat out of hell, and the 3800 hesitation has all but disapeard! do ya'll think it could be the o2 sensor has gone bad? cause the damn thing was running up into the first l.e.d. of the rich part of the guage. problems, problems. any suggestions? -chris |
i meant to add that it had been running in the rich condition for a couple of days and now all of the sudden it just droped off to lean. also the fuel mixture screw isnt affecting the reading on the guage at all.
|
well, hours later things have returned to normal with the mixture reading. possibly the fumes from the penitrating oil i sprayed on the engine.
|
so wait a minute....do the rods come out of the LIM or not? I mean, if one were to pull the sleeves out, does that mean the useless rods have to stay in there....forever??
thanks, grant |
no, you can get em out, its just very hard to do.
|
what do u have to bang them out? what is holding them in there? friction? or some kind of peen?
If they did come out, would putting them back in be impossible? -grant |
I know I'm reviving an old thread, but I have a bit of useful information to contribute.
While taking my LIM off this weekend and cleaning my aux ports, I learned that Carb. Cleaner will free them up and they'll slide out very easily. Both the rods and the sleeves in the engine. Now I just need to figure out how to realign them to put the LIM back on. |

Like the free online manual says: INSTALL THE AUXILLARY PORT VALVES SO THAT THE BIGGER SIDE OF THE PIN IS ALIGNED TO THE MATING MARK. |
