I can't find a TII so Can I put a TII engine in my RX?

I got a ... I guess you guys call it a N/A 1987 Rx-7 I just put a 5 speed in it, it was a auto. What all mods do I need to make to drop a Turbo style engine in this? what year engines will work if any? What kind of modifacations do I need to make to the frame/tranny/brakes? I assume I need at least a turbo hood.

Any info plz?

I made my topic quite clear. You didn't have to read it if you don't have any constructive input.

NTM: I went throught the search process ... I am finding nothing specific to my model/year ... that was my question. Do I have to get 87 T II parts 87 T II engine? Etc. Etc.

The process is the almost the same with any FC, it doesn't matter if it's an S4 GXL or a S5 convertible.

Only difference between the two is that the dash wiring harness in the n/a S4 cars need a bit of modification to work with the turbo engine wiring harness and ECU.

If you want to drop a turbo engine in your car, your best bet is to buy a Jap spec engine. Buy one with an uncut wiring harness and ECU and you've got pretty much everything you need to make the engine drop in and work. If you want to use your existing driveline you'll need to use your old flywheel and clutch.

However, it's recommended that you find a Turbo II transmission, diff, and other drivetrain parts to handle th extra power. Especially if you plan on modifying it.

Other odds and ends that I haven't mentioned are also required, but overall it's a pretty straight forward swap.

As requested...

If you have already searched, and had a few specific questions, say it in your FIRST post. That will keep you from getting flamed, especially with a topic like turboing a n/a.

Bottom line, youll have a harder time finding all the parts to do a TII conversion, and youll spend more than looking extra hard for a TII. You might have to go somewhere OTHER than your home town, but you would have to do that for a TII sawp too. Or pay out the ass for shipping.

Where I live the number of Rx-7s for sale is down by atleast 3/4ths. Wouldn't think it would be that bad in CA. Maybe you just need to wait a month or two to find some TIIs.
