i adjusted my tps and...

1987 Mazda RX-7 Turbo II (S4)

ok so i adjusted my TPS according to how i read in a few different posts. warmed the car up by driving for 30 minutes, then took off the intercooler and adjusted it to 1k ohms. then i put it all back together and it only got worse then it was before. i am supposed to adjust to 1K ohms between the orange and the black line right...not the green one? someone help please. when the TPS is adjusted to 1K ohms with the car hot and no throttle, when i put it to full throttle its a little over 8K ohms. i thought it was supposed to be 6K?

someone please give me some help getting my numbers right and let me know which 2 wires to adjust between.

I tried adjusting mine with the ohm method but I had MUCH better luck with the voltage method (the one where you get two LEDs and adjust the screw until only one is lit).

I've also been adjusting my TPS (non-turbo car) periodically for weeks and I can't get it just right. I don't know if it's some kind of conspiracy or something, but I guess I'm going to get a replacement whenever I can find a good deal and see if mine is just bad.

good luck.

Read it at the ECU, guys. Voltage. That way if there's some screwy wiring (like the oxidized terminals on the TPS plug, for one) you'll catch it...

Reading it at the TPS itself just covers 1/4 of the circuit...

And reading it at the ECU allows you to leave it connected and place the meter in the seat beside you so that you can watch it throughout its range...

For instance, hook everything up, go for a joyride, stop at a light, and while she's idling take a look at the meter. If it's not at about 1v, some more tweaking is in order...Or maybe a TPS replacement :)

what pins on the ECU do i check...does anyone have some pictures or anything to make it a little easier for me to find?

Depends on the car. Try this...
