huge fuel miles improvement 8mpg city to 15mpg city
 

well when i got my fc on the road the fuel miledge waz approx 8mpg.. after reading the fsm for a night and fixing my vac leak i started my attempts to get the fuel miles better what i did waz

Adjust timing
Adjust TPS
Test AFM to make shure its in spec
installed a Cat
installed a air pump that runs directly to the cat
fixed ALL vac leaks
new o2 sensor
adjusted that lean rich idle adjuster thnig

i did all that, then went to the fuel and calcated the fuel miles and got 15mpg city
now since im on my permit and i cant drive without anyone, i do alot of driving in the driveway and idling, so i figure if i dident do that i would prob be in the 17-18 mpg range??? but i figured ide pass it around mabe it can help somone else get there fuel miledge up becasue i know how much 8mpg sucks

I get 9 mpg...I think it may be the o2 sensor, but I can't justify paying over $200 for it. (Mazda Trix)

-And hopefully with my standalone the o2 sensor won't do shit.

that's odd, I think I paid 20 bucks for my O2 sensor at napa. :confused:

mine came with a parts car, sitting in the back brandnew in the box, i think there NOOO more than 40 maxx

O2 sensor doesn't make much of a difference IMO. I've had mine fried and unhooked for about 3 or 4 months now and I still get 18mpg full city driving.

i get like 9 MPG and im 20K on rebuild :)

I'm actually surprised that those changes would result in an improvement for a car getting 8mpg. 9mpg is also bad. That's not normal, you need to look into that.

Well he has a huge ass vac leak, car ran all messed up, his gas gauge was fubared, and the 8/9mpg was his "guess" never really an exact calculation :)

Once you drive it more, and start learning the car better and it's powerband, as long as you don't baby it and drive like a sissy it should go up quite a bit.

Yeah, the 02 doesnt really do anything untill its in closed loop (freeway or cruise driving) It just gives your computer a bit better idea of where your a/f range is at when you locked at a certain speed/throttle load. I installed a new one before my long ass trip to north idaho a few months ago just to get the extra edge on gas mileage ($20 bucks or something at napa). The last drive up there i managed to get 27-28 MPG, I think the open intake and fairly open exhaust help those numbers too. Also keeping all your sensors in spec helps that mileage a bunch too.
