hp torque on ported NA's.
i've given up on getting a TII. and i cant find a GTUs. so i've decided to try to get a rear end with LSD so that i can get a rebuild on my 13b with a port. i've been searching and searching, but i havent seen anyone that has shown a dyno of how much power their NA ported actually had? how much torque can a NA port have? i've read that street ports and get u 200rwhp, how bout torque? and i havent seen anyone proven what their ports have given them, anyone?

have you looked on craigslist...there was one for 1k...check it out
yah but no one wants my current 89 GXL. i cant have 2.
I would buy yours but low on cash now... Heh.
what condition is ur gxl in? pics and how much u want for it?
well you can work backwards...if someone ports and gets 200rwhp, lets say that's at 8000 rpm. now hp = torque x (rpm/5252). that would put them at about 131 ft lbs. if they hit 200 at 7k or 7.5k that would put them at 150 or 140 tq respectively. the idea behind porting is to let the engine breathe up top, effectively moving up the usable power band and letting the engine pull longer. i would imagine 200 rwhp would be near 8k rpm putting the torque in the 130's with a fairly flat curve all the way to redline. anyone who thinks otherwise can speak up and lemme know if i'm making sense or not :).
btw, my car dyno'd in at 127 rwtq, buuut....the curve really really dies off at 6500rpm dropping me at a mediocre 151 rwhp. if you push the 127 rwtq number up to 8k rpm, that would drop me at about 193 rwhp. |
w'sup bingoboy, it's been a while, whatchu up to?

already posted.
https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...hreadid=267051 no one wants it... i want a turboII or a GTUs....that's why im selling. |
so power isnt usable till that high of an rpm........? doesnt sound so good, i mean, i wont redline that often...
Why not? Redlining is very healthy for a rotary engine. I redline at least once every time I drive and so do very many of your fellows here.
With a rotary engine power and torque theoretically increase linearly with rpm, unlike a piston engine. So it is quite common that max power is at (or past, for many NAs) redline. |
yah but i want some usable power down low too, which TII's have at about 3k rpms. remember, i'm talking about a port on an NA.
if you want good low end keep the aux ports functional get and everything in a perfect state of tune. thats your best bet. if you realy are die hard go standalone and tune it on a dyno that will give you signifigant gains throughout the powerband.
so i can do that with a port, with a good amount of power top end too? i want equal torque with a stock TII, if not, then more. i'm going to want to rebuild my engine if i'm stuck with this car so i can get a port done too. how about a bridge port? is that too much? is it loud as i've read it is? what about the longivity of the motor, will it last longer than a TII still?
I think on a non-turbo it will be very very tough to get anything over 150-160 ft/lbs (at the flywheel).
Typically the things that increase HP, don't really increase torque the same way. 180 HP is easily reached on a non-turbo (often without major mods), but 150ft/lbs is difficult. Turbos are getting rare in Nothern California, but seem still pretty common in SoCal. You may wish to widen your search. |

why would an s4 be worth more than an s5. or is that just your personal need?
no, i didnt buy it like that, i didnt get in an accident or anything, i wanted to repair the car. i thought i was getting a good deal, till i realized i should have bargained for less... what if i fix it, would anyone wanna trade me for a black s5? or TII plus i give cash?
