How would you prevent towing?

I was forced to park my RX7 in an empty houses driveway (live in the townhomes...)anyway they tow the shit out of any car wrongfully parked and charge like 400$. its a possibility for me so how would you try to stop them. i got the e- brake way up and want a more promising technique(sp?) thanks for any input

calicrewchief 03-16-09 12:31 AM

Put it on jacks. :dunno:

88noroof 03-16-09 12:35 AM

cmanns 03-16-09 12:48 AM

cry a river?

They will find a way

cmanns 03-16-09 12:48 AM

ooops for double post

FirstRotaryExp 03-16-09 12:49 AM

push the jeep 'into' the garage to fix it and park in your own driveway? If they want to tow the car they will, and they wont care about your property when they drag it away either.

Tovock 03-16-09 12:50 AM

E-brake will do nothing anyways if it gets towed they will pick it up from the rear anyways. There is really nothing you can do to stop a determined tow company. Ive hauled a few cars back when I worked another job, and if they are serious about making some cash they will get it out anyway possible. Hell i had some asshole pulled his rims off to so i threw 2 spares on it and hauled it away.

It's true, there's not much that you can do to stop a car from being towed even if all 4 wheels are locked in gear or have a brake on - a dolly is an easy way to just lift and go.

I had a similar situation, and my advice is to just talk to your neighbors. You'll likely find there is someone with a "spare" spot that will give you permission to park your car in their spot temporarily.

Wait for the tow truck to show up and slash it's tires?

So you want the OP to be injured by a tow'er?

Mutaku 03-16-09 03:34 AM

+1 for moving the jeep into the garage. I had to push my blown TII into the garage after I ended up flooding it and for the life of me couldn't get it started XD

get a big savage dog and tie it to your car when the tow man comes he wont know what to do:lol:

1.3mazda 03-16-09 06:35 AM

Look into your local laws and city ordinances, play the GAME sun! Usually the law are like........example; vehicle can't remain parked in spot without moving for ......24hrs, 48hrs,72hrs...or something like that! Know the law and move it when you have to. I have played that game lots! still do actually!

Zanity 03-16-09 10:09 PM

for me if its in a driveway and you put a car cover on it then they can't tow it away.
not sure if your laws are similar or not.
but look into as stated before.

need RX7 03-16-09 10:19 PM

Bury the car.

Hypertek 03-16-09 10:39 PM

they wont care they will tow it regardless find a way.. my friends wheels where stolen off his car, and then city towed his car cuz they thought it was abandoned, you could see dents/scrap marks on the ground from teh frame dragging...

Iwantamuffin 03-17-09 08:58 PM

Well the way i do it........is i parked so that if the tow does get me, it picks me up from the back and then i lock my steering wheel :P so it will always go sideways unless they have a flat bed witch is rare because it takes longer to for them to get the car

Or if they have a dolly - which almost EVERY tow truck has!

They slip those bad-boys either side of your front wheels, crank them up and off you go in a few seconds.

duo2999 03-17-09 11:20 PM

square tire and rims in the front?

or a boot

Iwantamuffin 03-18-09 01:28 AM

Park it in between two cars lol :P cant get to you then

fcforlife 03-18-09 02:31 AM

^^^^^^ yeah they can theres a video somewhere of a tow truck driver dragging a car sidways so he could reposition and get it correctly haha. +2 for pushing the jeep in the garage? that option seems pretty obvious if you ask me

dawicka2 03-18-09 02:11 PM

Convert your car to front wheel drive and do http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=chBRSH5-dSQ to them.
