"How to Trun on Fog Lamps Without Headlamps"

Does anybody know hows this done... ive seen pics and Option Videos with FC's with "ONly" there Foglamps on... Looks JDMish.. it me...

I have it done on my Eclipse GSX. Have it wired to my ignition. One the key is turned to the on position my fog lamps automatically come on. I'm guessing you could do the same of an FC. Unfortunalely mine doesn't have fog lights otherwise I would have already done this.

just wire them up to a switch.

A dual-circuit socket I think is what it's called.

theres a writeup somewhere floating around on a way to wire it up to a AAS console thing where the fog light switch is at normally, you replace it with a AAS one from a GXL and wire it into that and then you can just leave the fog light switch on all the time and the lights will turn on with the car and off wit hthe car, that way you cant leave them on.

but im pretty sure theres a easier way, like i heard of wiring the power wire into the turn signals/city lights, that way when you turn on your lights they come on.

Most cars fog lights are significantly brighter than their regular headlights, but improperly focused, so that they do more harm than good. Esp. on trucks.
But anyway... the only reason you could ever want the fog lights on and not the headlights would be on the highway, to conserve a little gasoline.
Just find the wiring behind the fog lights, snip and cover the positive lead, and run a 12v line to it through a switch in the cabin. Not too difficult.

yeah, my fog lights are on if my head lights are off, because i am in Canada :)

well, they used to be anyway...trying to get them working again. i seem really depressed about my fog lights not working, for some reason...

Maybe when this global warming thing really kicks in, I'll move up there with you Canadian boys, eh? Since I HATE driving in ice/ snow, and couldn't bear the thought of putting the car away for the winter, it might be a while :)

i have a civic hatch for the winter. i LOVE the first snowfall. i put tape over my handbrake button, and go have some fun on the back roads (or any roads...late at night though). the river here, which is quite big, freezes over completely, and they make a road on it. very fun...

Hmmm, I live on an island off of the coast of Canada, you might have heard of it, Vancouver Island? On the southern tip we rarely get snow, it rains only half as much as the mainland, but if your looking for snow, the middle of the island about 2-1/2 hours away has a mile high mountain that gets about 25 feet of the white stuff a year. Kinda' the best of both worlds. :D

BTW there is no emmisions checking or 'Air Care' here either. ;)

We are known as "Canada's Hawaii!" and until I sold my jet skiis I used to ride year 'round! :D

I hooked the fog lamp relay up to the lamp for my parking lights... Soo when the parking lights get switched on, the fog lamps come on too.

Well......... I dont know if its an S5 or S4(I assume factory S5) but my S5 TII has power mirrors which has a switched ignition source. (powers when the key car is on) And all I did was test which wire was the 12v input to the fog light switch and cut it(tape off the other end) and jumpered it over the the power mirrors 12v wire.

Now the factory switch works just like a normal toggle I can have the fog lights on totally indepentant from the rest of my lights. And they dont shut off when my brights are on.

just wanted to mention that the DRL system is only activated when the hand brake is down...

that's another suggestion i guess, wire it with the hand brake, so they only come on if the hand brake is down...
