How tight is too tight?
Im installing new differential mount spacers (Big Rubber Spacers). The fsm says 65-77 ft-lbs. Im concerned because im squishing the rubber part of the spacer pretty bad... am i doing this right?

Yes, just torque them to spec. They will squish which is what they are designed for (pre-loads it in there to prevent the frame/diff from bouncing around).

just from experience,.. It can never be too tight ;) Oh wait we are talking about cars....

Normally, the diff snubbers shouldn't be compressed like that. It's not good if MMR diff bushings allow that to happen. The nut load should pass through the center of the spacer rather than the "crown prongs".

You will need the spherical bearings since it will be your only source to allow the free-play in the control arms for camber/toe settings.

If you are truly running the solid Diff and subframe mounts, that camber adjuster you got (the single "dog-bone" style one) will not do anything to adjust camber. .

it almost appears you are using TWO "crown" mounts per side, for a total of 4 "crown" mounts.. if so, yeah you've got it wrong, there should only be one per nut, one on each side of the diff, and then the 2 mounts on the front of the rear subframe, the one that has that extra 14mm nut and bracket.
i don't seem to remember any of my subframe mounts compressing that much. |

i am running mmr hard mounts, i didnt know about the dogbone camber adjusters uselessness in my situation. looks like i will have to save up some money for the other kind. as for now its set at the stock length and everything is installed and im sure not taking it off at this point. as of right now my engine setup will be stock, i am trying to fix up the suspension for a future bad ass set up :icon_tup: i did not make the lateral links they were on the old subframe so i snagged them, they are just like camber adjuster but lateral link size :nod: and thanks for the input! the news about the dogbone is depressing but helpfull Heres the front http://hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net/hs495...._1682930_n.jpg |
