how to screw the compression test gauge tube in
 

The compression test kit I have is this one:

The end has an adaptor that I screw into the spark plug hole. I'm also supposed to screw the end of the tube that connects to the adaptor in to the adaptor. But there's so little space. (Also, is the adaptor supposed to screw in until it stops or just screw in some amount?)

Do you first screw the tube into the adaptor then the adaptor into the tube? I think that's the way it's supposed to be done, but once the you screw the tube into the adaptor, I couldn't screw the adaptor into the spark plug hole.

I screw the adapter into the sparkplug hole with nothing connected to the adapter.

And then, with the hose disconnected from the gauge, screw the hose into the adapter.

Then attach the gauge to the hose.

Do you screw the adapter until it doesn't go in any more?

I couldn't screw the hose into the adapter after I screw the adapter somewhat into the spark plug hole. Do you bend the hose in a loop? For me, there's so little space to screw the hose.

Screw it in til its snug.
Maybe its easier for me cause I have no pwr steering pump and you do? You have to bend the hose a bit when screwing it into the adapter. One hand screwing on the hose near the adapter and the other hand holding the hose further up. Somethiing like that.

EDIT: I just went out to the garage and looked at the gauge. You screw the adapter in til the o'ring makes contact or it gets snug. I was going to suggest not using the adapter and just screw the hose in......but better not. Screwing the adapter in by hand and you know if your screwing up the sparkplug hole threads but if you just screw the hose in you could bugger up the sparkplug holes *possibly* by accident.

If you screw the adapter in and it gets snug after several threads but the oring does not make contact........just stop there because the thing is going to seal well enough for a compression test.

Sorry but I have not used that gauge in several years 'cause I have no known problems on my cars and no need to use it. I'm almost positive I use the adapter when using it. About nintey nine percent positive.
