How to repair spoiler?
 

The spoiler has all these little cracks. How to I fix them

Also this is after I have sanded and primered it. I took that picture literally 20 seconds after I put a coat of primer on it

the cracks are from old paint without flex agent in it, keep sanding. unfortunately i don't know of an easy method to strip paint from the rubber without possibly damaging it. might want to recheck that rubber needs to be primed also, it could create more problems than it solves. the thing you need to keep in mind with all painted rubber parts is that paint doesn't bend without proper additives in it.

maybe things have changed but I was told the flex agent they add is only beneficial till the paint cures ...i.e. doesn't do anything for paint flexibility otherwise. need to sand them out obviously but if they extend into the spoiler then you can use bumper repair stuff and/or flexible glaze like evercoat "poly-flex".

has to be some truth to it, that or paint choice matters much more than anyone has led me to believe.

OP - You might find that its not the paint that its cracking, but the material (hard foam?) of the spoiler. Once the spoiler starts cracking, its a done deal, unfortunately. I've used 2 parts epoxy to fill/fix similar cracks on my spoiler (not the paint), and the cracks usually reappear further down from the original (now fixed) cracks. I've fixed my spoiler three times, and I am done with it, seriously!

It didnt turn out to bad since the car is a 20 footer anyway,

I bought a spoiler that was constructed out of that "spongy type" material..not the regular hard ass fiberglass Mazda version.
I can still remember taking that paint off....long ago...Yes the girls had nice natural boobs and most of them had their real teeth!

All I can say is that the cracking paint will not allow you lay another good cover coat...and taking the old stuff off is laborious and patience.
The sander (or device) needs to be regulated and evenly applied or it will dig in and make the spoiler look flat and "cut and sliced" in places where you just wanted to get the paint off..It needs have the proper contour so the 'flow lines" don't look flat at the start,round in the middle,etc..
If you did into the edges of that spoiler then you make sure that will have nice flow from A to B..(or it will look like a bad shaving accident)
