how to remove water pump / A/C
ok here we go :wallbash:
1986 rx7 gxl 13b engine when car warms up coolant drips, then just pretty much streams out i can see it leaking when i look under /behind my alternator so im sure its my waterpump, and it cant be that hard to remove, i dont feel like taking it to a shop because it costs alot and dont want to screw it up by trying it myself with no instructions, can sombody tell me how to remove it properly/ replace it (ive got a new one ready + gasket) and my A/C dosent work would taking the whole thing off make me gain any power? :icon_tup: + the previous owner put a aftermarket intake on the car but it dosent have the adapter for the air pump so my idles a bit wierd it idles pretty high when its warmed up (1400 - 1900) somtimes a bit lower ,i have a exhaust leak also so that might have somthing to do with it, what would happen if you remove the air pump/ what is it supposed to do? right now its sucking air and sounds like a BOV when i let off the gas :squint: thanks and leave some answers please :Wconfused |

That will tell you anything you need to know my man. Enjoy. Chris |
The s4 FSM doesn't actually have anything about the a/c system in it. You can look at the s5 one for reference. Basically, removing it will add no power. The a/c only draws power when engaged. You can remove the belt, if you want. Removing the entire a/c system will remove a small amount of weiht (less than 50 pounds, probably more like 25-30) so its not really worth the effort.

Hells yea its worth the effort. Loss of weight and restriction in front of radiator. And then you can ditch the extra pulleys on the main one=less rotating weight there. I ditched mine cause FUCK IT. :)

For the water pump you drain the coolant, take the alternator off, disconnect the coolant lines, and take the water pump off. That should be more or less it. :dunno:
|
Haynes manual will also walk you through it. Water pump is really simple.

no more leaking coolant for me :suitdance
thanks for the help every1 :D |
well in my opinion.... if you don't need the a/c then just leave it off, less parts to deal with and less crap in the engine bay to get around. anyways i like to rolllll in style, with the windowws down
