How to remove lockup control solenoid?
Note: 86 GX automatic transmission
Could someone please tell me how this (lockup control solenoid) is removed? I need to fix the wires on mine, also need info on the color of factory wireing comming out of it and the conector it plugs into. Thanks picture attached: |
No one actually knows how to remove this do they?
That really sucks :( |
seriously doubt it.
i don't know of a single person on this forum who has been through an auto FC tranny, they usually get pitched into the junk pile and swapped out with a manual gearbox. i would just crimp or solder on a new connection without removing it, there is enough wire there left to work with it looks like. |
I may be able to crimp on a wire to the little peice thats left, the other wire with the spade still on it is getting pretty britle aswell..
the other issue is thou I have no idea whic is pos and neg (if thats how it works) I know where the plactic conector is on the car for it but not the color codes of the wires for it either. :( this auto stuff sucks! wish I had the money for a swap to be done on this car and some one/where to do it, but mostly I would just like to get it fixed up and running and sell it off and buy another. |
if it has one male and one female connector on the vehicle harness side then the solenoid is polarity sensitive and it will need to be matched up, if both are male on one side and female on the other or vice versa then the polarity shouldn't matter and they can be connected whichever way.
|
Its one plastic conector with two female slots on vehicle harness side.
see its been "fixed" before hence the spade conectors. on the vehicle harness side its still the fatory conector. |
i see, well i would probably just patch it up to get by for now, if the lockup still even works that is which is why i wouldn't spend too much time worrying about that solenoid.
|
so it wont really matter if it works or not? cause if its not a real concern I will let it be.. but if important then ofcourse I will try my best to fix it.
