How much torque on a stud?
 

I was putting my engine back together and noticed that the studs on my exhaust manifold are loose. Well I started tighting them. I put them at 40 lbs. Was wondering what is a good figure. Just tight as hell? Or does hell have a number?

I was using that method where you use two nuts on the stud to tighten the stud. But one of the studs was weird. No matter how hard I tightened the two nuts against each other. They moved when I was trying to tighten the stud. What is up with that?

Yeah, I know this is not very exciting. But does anybody have any input on this?

Just to let you all know...it is rather tramatic to search for, "Stud" on the internet.

What Size is the Bolt that goes into the Thread on the Manifold end? I don't have the bolts and i gotta hook my pipe up with a stud...and I don't know what size the thread is... thanks or does anyone know?
