How much should I expect to pay for gaskets??

I called one of my local Mazda dealers and priced out some gaskets...

block-> exhaust mani = ~$130 ( I can't remember exactly)

exhaust mani -> turbo = $70

turbo -> downpipe = $50

these seem EXTREMELY high to me, so I was wondering if this is just how much they cost or is there a cheaper place I can get them...cause my turbo didn't even cost $130.

yep the metal gaskets are outrageously expensive..are you going by mazdatrix site for prices? order from Ray Crowne @ Malloy Mazda here in Manassas Va. phone # (703) 490 8170 and no joke you can kiss 30 bucks off any other places total price if not more..he gives rx7 owners huge discount and he works there at a Dealership too..win win both ways.

yeah ray crowe hooks it up. I got a TPS from him for like $40 cheaper than mazdatrix with fast shipping

i priced these out through Gerry Gordons Mazda in winnipeg. After that I started checking aroung online

on the RB site...

block to header/mani = $12
turbo to downpipe = $50

couldn't find the mani to turbo one there

All of those gaskets are high quality multi-layer metal gaskets. They are reusable several times and are of higher quality then any automotive gasket I've ever seen.

Yes, the prices are high. But they are justifiably high considering the quality of construction and the stresses that these gaskets (especially the manifold to engine gasket) have to deal with. Think about the manifold to engine gasket. The engine "keg" expands and contracts lengthwise with every heat cycle. The cast iron turbo manifold expands and contacts at a totally different rate. This gasket has to last YEARS in these conditions while seeing the hot EGTs a rotary generates.

You might save a little from Mazdatrix or one of the vendors, but since these are OEM parts, they all generally cost about the same.

basically it was just the block to mani gasket that was way over priced($130 for a gasket...come on). I checked mazdatrix, and racing beat and they both had them at about $13 so i allmost think the guy at mazda just added a "0" to the price.

the 13 doller gaskets are probably the feltpro type paper gasket, sucks to remove.

Rotary Aviation.

Whole set for $118.

sonick117x 03-10-08 04:31 PM

cept rotary aviation doesnt include the turbo-downpipe gasket (or downpipe to exhaust pipe gasket) depending if you get s4 or (s5)

I think I'll just get em all from mazdatrix or RB

The $13 gasket is the NA gasket. It doesn't last long in this application (I know this from experience).

Here is the turbo gasket for $71 US:
