How much hp with stock ecu and sfac1

how much hp can it hold?? my friend just got a 05 sti 300hp/300ftlb so i wanna keep up with him what do i need to do '?????

KompressorLOgic 01-19-06 11:36 AM

you would want larger injectors, and fuel pump, and a proper tune with the SAFC!! or damage may result, but, if you run like 13 psi u can prolly take him. a front mount might be a good idea as well? as well as some beefy rear tires. cause it will launch on you pretty bad otherwise.....

id know from experience :) i had s5 t2 engine in a s4 turboII , 3"full ehxaust ,3" intake, boost control set at 13 psi, walbro fuel pump, rtek 1.7 ecu with 720cc secondarys(basicly like a stock comp, but with fuel cut eliminated, and designed to run 720cc injectors) i had a stage II clutch also.

a front mount would help alot to , as well as make that setup ALOT safer, as intake temps are way to high with that much boost though.......

I think the actual limit of the stock ECU, power wise, is exactly what you can get at 8.6 psi....which is where the stock computer cuts fuel.....

the stock computer with an SAF-C....well thats a good question...keep in mind this isn't a dyno.

KompressorLOgic 01-19-06 03:30 PM

he does have a FCD, though so if he ups the boost and keeps the fuel ratio proper, it should be fine.

Nismo Convert86 01-19-06 05:16 PM

Get an Rtek, still "stock" but everything is internal.

DriftingB26RX7 01-19-06 05:27 PM

ok so i know a fmic would help but, I want to keep tmic. I have the safc but not installed and a manual boost controller thats not installed. I need $200 for install and 5 dyno pulls w/ tunning. I'm running 12psi right now but my clutch is slipping so no boost for me right now.

arghx 01-19-06 05:39 PM

Get an Rtek. With proper tuning you should be able to smoke a stock STi even on stock intercooler and ports. Smoken' had a car that did it at the strip.

Nismo Convert86 01-19-06 05:47 PM

My car dyno'd 240 at the wheels my buddy with a 02 wrx with 220 whp can't pull on me at all, even off the line, 220 on the wrx is about equivelent to about 290 at the flywheel, so that is sti territory. It's all about power to weight.

Yeah, but STI's have better torque, don't they?

bacek 01-19-06 07:06 PM

way better torque numbers and a better torque curve

are you doing this at the strip? if you are all you need is about 250 flywheel and a good 60' and reaction time.

if it is just a freeway pull 250 will let you pull on him easy

DriftingB26RX7 01-19-06 10:25 PM

ok so I can beat him stock, what about with a up pipe, bov, and exhaust ??? maybe I can, I think I know I can I will try the 7 will not lose!!!!

peachykeenwight 01-19-06 10:56 PM

Before you try to beat a modded STi, I'd get your car safe... Keep in mind, the kid just dropped more than 30 grand into a car and mods, and you've most likely spent less than a third of that.

Take your time, do the mods right, spend what you need to spend to keep the car from going boom boom (and of course spend enough to make it kick ass... shouldn't cost that much)

About the TMIC... if you're worried about spending a bunch of money on an FMIC, you can always just buy some good piping and front mount the stock intercooler... or get one of those eBay knockoffs for 90 bucks, they should deal with 13psi just fine.

All in all, you'll be annihilating him for a lot less than what he just dropped for that STi. Plus, you'll sound better. STis sound lame. :P

DriftingB26RX7 01-20-06 01:04 AM

na sti's sound tight i like the rumble, i have a starion fmic that i havent fitted but i think it will bit it i change the tubes.

johnrxt2 01-20-06 01:27 AM

arn't the sti's suposed to be running high 13s factory?

twilight slide 01-20-06 04:42 AM

let us know how it goes when you race him :) this is my goal also (STI ownage)

DriftingB26RX7 01-20-06 11:02 PM

Will do i'll try to get it video taped. I'm installing my stage 3 clutch i just got 2morrow so after 550miles we will find out!

rx7idgit 01-20-06 11:34 PM

I thought STI's were supposed to be running more in the lower 13's stock at a track, right there with like Evo 8s? I've also come to understand that a TII runs like 15's stock, what all does it take to get a TII into the low/mid 13s?

arghx 01-21-06 09:37 AM

you need among other things injectors, full exhaust, RTEK w/ SAFC, probably an upgraded clutch, s5 turbo w/ ported wastegate etc

bigdv519 01-21-06 10:24 AM

Your going to need 2 things.

1. Really good tires. IF he is half as good as you, he'll still beat you off the line, so you need to make sure it isn't by too much.

2. Some 3rd/4th gear pull. STi's don't have much pull once they are moving. Don't worry if he beats you off the line, because he will. Just make sure you have enough power to reel him in.
